As you would expect, seafood predominates the menu along this coastal area of France. Mussels are a local delicacy so why not sample them in a variety of delicious sauces - or enjoy them as the locals do, served simply in garlic.

One of our 'Best Seller' parcs in the Vendee is La Garangeorie at St Julien-des-Landes, set inland in a magnificent estate and just a 15-minute drive from the superb Vendeen beaches. Offering activities such as horse riding, fishing and boating - this parc really does offer the best of both worlds.

The kids will love the theme parks that the Vendee has to offer. From the cinematic Futuroscope near Poitiers to Le Puy du Foy where you step back in time and enter the land of the Romans and Vikings.

Cities such as Nantes, with a medieval quarter close to the cathedral as well as an elegant 19th century town to the west and La Rochelle which has the largest yachting harbour on the Atlantic Coast are both worth a visit.
