- (Very) Good things
Great staff - in bars, restaurant, kids club, lifeguards, at reception etc. All very friendly, great at their jobs.
Really clean all around the whole site, an army of maintenance staff working every day to keep the facilities in great order
Great pool facilities - they may charge to hire sun loungers but the money from this allows the campsite to keep poolside in great shape.
Loads happening, some great entertainment in evenings (esp Scherezade acrobats and Sasha the magician while we were there), you can book day trips and hire a car on site, free shuttle bus to the beach, films on big screen every day, campsite farm to visit, we loved the inflatable party in the pool too!
Ombre restaurant was lovely - casual, child friendly, fun but also really nice food and wine.
The mobile homes are really piled on top of each other, much more so than in other campsites I have stayed in - our bedroom was about 30cm from next door's living room! When they put on their air con, if we were sitting outside we got blasted with air too! This close proximity is ok during the day, since you are mostly out at the pools and no problem in the evening. But a few nights were really noisy, 1am / 2am people crashing back from the bar and singing / shouting / playing guitar. This is usually a big no no on a busy campsite, and is, as you would imagine, explicitly against the rules at Castell Montgri too but, maybe because the campsite is very big, no security ever showed up to ask people to keep the noise down and follow the rules. As it is only June, the campsite is only going to get busier as the summer goes on! However we stayed here ten nights and only had this problem on 2 different nights - but if you are travelling with young kids or you are a light sleeper yourself, maybe bring some ear plugs!
