Start your holiday...
If you want your feet to remain firmly on the ground, then walk around some of the best kept gardens in France at Chateau Marqueyssac. Les Jardins de Marqueyssac are accompanied by a light show on Thursdays in July and August.
Another remarkable feature of the area is the grand chateaux. Chateau Castlenaud is the most popular castle in southern France and sits high above the Dordogne valley. But why not get even higher up and view Chateau des Milandes in a hot air balloon?
A very short drive away is the unmissable medieval town of Sarlat. Be sure to explore the narrow winding streets, the historic churches around the picturesque main square, and the lively markets.
If adventures in the water float your boat then make your way to Quercyland where there are attractions and activities galore. If you desire a more primitive adventure then explore life as it was from 1500BC at ‘Prehistoparc’. See models of prehistoric man and extinct animals.
If a tree top adventure that has climbed to the top of your to-do list then go to Indian Forest Perigord. There are multiple courses which vary in difficulty so everyone can have a go (if you’re brave enough!).
Le Gouffre de Padirac is a magnificent experience exploring the amazing underground world of the stunning limestone caves, beginning over 100 m down below the surface (located just over an hour away). Sightseeing at Lascaux caves is also fascinating - you can see reproductions of beautiful prehistoric cave paintings.
Causses du Quercy is rich in diversity and natural wonders; there are caves, ledges, cliffs and nature reserves brimming with unusual features. It is situated just over and hour away in the ‘black triangle’ which is a gateway to the stars as it is one of the least light polluted areas in the country.
