Blyth, Northumberland
We had a good holiday at Atlantique Park but were disappointed when the site seemed to semi close down after all the French left the middle weekend of our holiday. The bar and shop opening hours were much reduced.
Overall our mobile home was okay and we had a good pitch although better use could have been made of the pitch if the decking was larger. There was quite abit of 'dead space'. Our main gripe would be the lack of air conditioning in the van. It was incredibly hot whilst we were there and was difficult to keep the van cool. Also a canopy over the decking would have been very useful.
Final point we had an 18 month baby with us and the lack of a gate for the decking was problematic. Overall though a great site and a great holiday.
Best feature was the lagoon pool - a beautiful place to relax and swim and great for the little ones - and the outdoor bar area (when it was open) next to the inflatables for the children. Our 18 month old adored the farm animals as well.

I will try to review on the things that we wanted to know before we went. We are a family of four and stayed for 10 days in the Vista van. We holidayed at Bell in Vendee last year which is a small and moslty British site, which was on the beach.

The park itself is clean, modern and clearly really popular. A lot of the pitches and vans are privately owned which gives the park variety and also means it isn't noisy. You won't come across many Brits in high season as it is mainly the French that holiday at this site, partly to do with them owning most of the vans I guess and the beautiful weather.

The park has a lagoon pool which is lovely but the other pools are also really clean and my boys loved all of them. When you arrive you get a band that you have to wear for the entire holiday to give you access to the pools. There is a deposit which you can claim at the end of your stay, but beware that you must visit main reception early the day you leave as they may shut and go home towards the end of the season.

The bar and restaurant are relatively basic but there is enough choice for this not to be a problem. Next to the bar is a big bouncy castle area which the kids loved, and this is where we spent most of our evenings. There is entertainment that starts about 9, and sometimes we stayed for this but mostly we returned to the van. The evening noise was fine where we were and didn't disrupt our sleep. In fact we found the site to be really respectful and we only had one evening when we could hear neighbours chatting gone 10:30.

There is bike hire on site and lots of beautiful places to cycle to. If you want to take your own bikes then this is the perfect area to do so. If you are a keen runner then the stretch of road outside the site is perfect for a forest side run and lots of people do this. La Palmyre is easy to cycle to and makes for a vibrant day time shopping trip as well as a lovely coastline.

Beaches: There is a huge stretch of amazing beach just a short drive away. If you are into surfing then you will love it. The surf beach is amazing and has a food van so you can get a massive panini or baguette and lots of other yummy choices. The stretch has less turbulent beaches too and you can try parking at the side of the road if the car parks are full and trek through to find the one that suits you the best. There is usually a small walk through forest to get to the beach and we thought this was lovely.

It does pay to now some French as the locals may struggle to understand you.

The decking on our van we a bit bouncy but apart form that the van was fine.

Very disappointed with the Aspect home. Upon arrival the initial impression was a tired hut in the corner of an unkept garden with long weedy grass. The wooden terrace was old with 'repair' screws sticking out. The home was very tired and not clean, to the point I covered the sofa with blankets as it was so dirty. The mattresses were also stained, fridge seal did not seal and the patio doors were very difficult to open. Felt there also could have been more info offered by rep instead of a quick rambling of various supermarkets given to us after a 4hr journey. Also not impressed with the site owners private party on till midnight right outside our window. Not a happy customer Eurocamp, sorry!

The couriers were unable to show us to our accommodation as they were having their evening meal.

The restaurant was poorly organised and couldn't cope with the amount of people wanting food. Waiting times for food was too long.

We did notice that all eurocamp pitches were not kept very well, for example our pitch was a lovely size but hadn't been strimmed or mowed.
