Days Out

Family fun

Parc Festyland

For a day of fun, go to Parc Festyland, a unique amusement park with new attractions every year. There are rides and activities for the whole family, and in July and August every day exciting Viking battles are held. Great for kids!

Aquarium Vivarium de Trouville

Aquarium Vivarium de Trouville

This attraction has local and tropical fish to gaze at as they swim around, but it also has venomous snakes, turtles, lizards to peek at. ‘Zoo Cerza’ is also fun for the whole family, where animals are free to roam around in their natural environment.

D Day landing beaches

The Bayeux Tapestry

You do not have to travel far to see one of France’s most famous historic artefacts. The Bayeux tapestry is about an hour’s drive away, which is well worth it to see this extraordinary depiction of history. Another must-see historic attraction are the D-Day landing beaches, just a short drive from Houlgate.

Houlgate beach

Be beside the seaside

If you fancy a day at the beach then the lovely seaside town of Houlgate is nearby, or the sophisticated resort of Deauville, which has a lovely yachting marina and casino. Also within driving distance is Deauville’s less formal and expensive twin town, Trouville. It has golden sands and lots of seaside concessions.

Caen

Caen

Caen is a very cosmopolitan town which has lots of sightseeing opportunities. It is known for its historical buildings built during the reign of William the Conqueror.
