Our second stay at Les Ilates , thoroughly enjoyable again ! A quiet and peaceful setting , ideal for the many miles of designated cycle tracks. The same courier John ,who again could not have been more helpful.
A nice small camp site that feels very French, the caravans are a little close together but careful siting of hedges and trees helps makes prevent you feeling on top of one another. John the courier is a really nice chap, very friendly and willing to sort out any issues quickly and without fuss, making this a very enjoyable stay.
There is a big problem with noise on this park they have a curfew at 10pm but the bar plays much later. Cars are prevented from leaving the park after 10 but they then park on the other side of the boundary wall to the Eurocamp caravan bedroom so when they roar away in the middle of the night we are woken up on many occasions....
We had a wonderful holiday at Les Ilates. The campsite has a relaxed, easy going feel. There is some evening entertainment (mainly aimed at French guests) and while this obviously causes some noise, everything was silent by 11.30pm. We travelled with three young children and the noise did not affect them at all. I would say that the park is better suited for younger families as there is not much for teenagers expecting lavish pool facilities or lots of laid on activities etc.
We stayed in a 3 bed mobile home which was great. Very clean upon arrival in a quiet corner of the camp. The campsite is situated a 5 minute bike ride from the village of Loix which is charming. There is a bustling market every morning with a couple of lovely restaurants situated around a square where you can sit and watch the locals playing boule. Again, if you are looking for somewhere with lively night life, Loix is probably not the place for you but we absolutely loved it.
The Ile de Re itself is just a wonderful place to visit. We hired bikes (with a trailer for our two year old) and spent a blissful two weeks zipping around the island, criss crossed with vineyards, salt and oyster beds. The beaches are glorious and all the towns are picture postcard pretty.
Our Eurocamp couriers, Esther and John were superb. Extremely welcoming and friendly. Esther went above and beyond the call of duty by locating a much loved (but abandoned!) teddy bear after we had left for which I will be eternally grateful!
Overall, if you are looking for a relaxed and tranquil break in a beautiful pocket of France, then I would highly recommend Camping Les Ilates.
excellent location. Excellent Eurocamp staff welcome. Miserable aggressive barman. Loud music (bass) most nights from bar til past midnight (one night all night long) so not good for getting young kids settled - you need to have a word.
Nice park, generally quiet. Pitches well spaced for degree of privacy with good decking area. Adequate leisure facilities. Occasional loud evening entertainment. Temperatures lower than in previous years. More in low 20s than high 20s. However, it was mainly dry for the 9 days we were there.
