The historic site of Château de Talmont, St Hilaire, is less than 30 km from the parc. It was once the medieval fortress of Richard the Lion Heart. You can learn all about the history on the entertaining trail which is brought to life with knights on horse back, crossbow shooting and falconry displays.
Le Grand Parc du Puy du Fou is an excellent themed attraction. The family will become medieval explorers in a reconstruction of an 18th century village and 13th century ruins, surrounded by people in costume, warring Vikings and falconry displays. You must stay to watch the open-air night show with 850 people and 50 horsemen.
You can pack a lot in on a day trip to Les Sables d’Olonne. There is plenty to do in this seaside town: you can visit the popular zoo, have fun on the lively beach, wander round the harbour, explore lots of museums and galleries, or dine in one of the many excellent restaurants.
