If you like your wine you're in for a winning location. Loads of vineyards and chateaus nearby. Bordeaux is also close by. The cost is fabulously sandy and some very curious sites to see!

I like this area although the Landes can get a bit monotonous with all those pine trees while the large Atlantic beaches can be challenging when the sun is shining brightly as there's very little shade to be had. Other parts of Gascony are well worth visiting, including the villages of the Gers and the rest of the Midi-Pyrenees, the cities of Pau and Auch, etc, the Madiran vineyards, Biarritz and, of course, the beautiful Pyrenean mountains. So, lots to do and see if you're willing to travel.

Went to visit Biscarosse village on market day which was a good morning of activity and great for buying fresh produce.
Bordeaux is a fabulous city to visit. Go early so you can stay as long as possible. There's so much to look at and do.
Then I went to St Jean De Luz. Although it's a 2 hour drive south. The beach and promenade with views of the Pyrenees were worth it. Again the town is lined with pedestrianised streets with little artisan shops - great for souvenirs. I ate on the promenade while overlooking the sea. Amazing!

Dune du Pilat :
If you are in the area this is a must visit natural land mark! It's easy to get to by car, with ample parking. The currents keep depositing sand here and the dune keeps growing. The view from the top is spectacular. The climb is moderately rigorous and looks a lot smaller than it is, saying that, my friends 82 year old Dad, made it to the top by the steps When you get to the top you can see far out over the bay,the ocean and sand bars make a unique and unforgettable back drop. There is a large area to spread out, so bring some food and a blanket and have a picnic, or there are lots of other clean and pretty beaches close by.
You will be glad you made the trip!
