We really liked the region we were in. There were plenty of beaches and places to discover. The food was great and the people friendly and helpfull. Next time we will probably visit the east side of the island.

The problem with Sicily is that there's so much to see. One holiday wasn't long enough. It is a big island and could easily accommodate several visits to get the feel for the different areas. wherever we went the scenery was stunning from the beaches to the wild central mountains to the baroque hill towns. The people were very friendly and accommodating to our lack of the language and generally would do anything to help you. The roads were at a bit bumpy compared with ours but the motorway system was fantastic. Strangely the towns seemed full of traffic but outside of the towns the roads were virtually empty. wherever we went the food was of excellent quality, fresh and well served. Sicily possessed the ability to stimulate and relax at the same time making it a richly rewarding holiday.

Sicily is raw and wild. Very much part of the attraction for us. You need to get out and explore this huge island. This park and area are not for everyone. We however have how had three holidays here as there is so much to see and do. A car is essential as is a keen driver repaired to put in the miles. Everything including the pool closes for the afternoon. You either go for a sleep, a very long lunch in the shade or take an umbrella and go to the beach. All equally pleasant for my family.
