Essential Booking Information
Passports and Visas
Don’t forget to check that your passport is up to date and valid for your holiday duration plus one month for Europe and 6 months for the USA. You’ll need a full passport to visit any of the countries shown in our brochure. If you need a new one they’re available from your nearest passport office and take about a month to arrive. Anyone requiring a passport urgently (i.e. in less than 2 weeks) and wishing to apply in person, must make an appointment through the United Kingdom Passport Service Adviceline on 0870 521 0410. If you’re a non-EC passport holder you may need a visa and the embassies of the countries concerned can advise you on this. Rules governing children’s passports changed in October 1998. Everyone now needs their own passport to travel abroad, including children from birth. Any child already on a parent’s passport will not be affected until the document needs to be renewed or the child reaches the age of 16. Details are available from the Post Office.
Visa Entry Requirements into the USA
British citizens can enter the USA without a visa as long as certain requirements are met which conform to the The Visa Waiver Program (VWP). The main requirement is that each individual traveller must have a machine readable or biometric passport. All UK passports issued after 26/10/05 that contain a digital photograph meet these requirements, as long as other conditions are met (see below). Nationals from the following European countries also qualify for the VWP: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
Other VWP conditions - you must complete and sign a Visa Waiver Arrival/Departure Form issued by the carrier upon arrival in the US. This will be verified by US immigration and should be kept with your passport and handed back to US authorities on your return. Also, your stay must be no more than 90 days, your trip must be for holiday or business only, you must not have previously overstayed on a visa or been deported, you must not have a criminal record and you must not suffer from a mental disorder, HIV or have a dangerous communicable disease.
For all visa applications and enquiries, please visit the American Embassy website at
http://www.usembassy.org.uk/. Applications normally require passports and completed information at least 6 weeks prior to departure date. Entry into the USA is always at the discretion of the duty immigration officers and we can bear no responsibility if a customer is refused entry or refused a USA visa even if the guidelines have been followed.
PLEASE NOTE new regulations have come into effect this year concerning the Visa Waiver Program. Please click, download and read the following information about the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) carefully.
Health and Safety
Prior to travelling it is always recommended that you seek the advice of the Department of Health and your General Practitioner. A copy of the Department of Health’s booklet ‘Health Advice for Travellers’ is also recommended and available from the Post Office. You are advised to obtain a new European Health Insurance Card which replaces the E111 from January 2006 (E111 no longer valid). This is not a substitute for medical insurance and forms are available from your Post Office. The Foreign & Commonwealth Travel Advice Unit may have issued information about your destination. Check Ceefax p470 onwards or visit www.fco.gov.uk/.
Driving Licences
Drivers with old style green UK licences are advised to take an international driving permit for Spain or Italy (contact the DVLA for more information).
Party Leader Minimum Age
The minimum age for a party leader is 18 years at the time of booking the holiday. Please note, Eurocamp does not accept bookings from parties of 3 or more young adults of the same gender under the age of 25.
Non-European Customers
There is an additional charge of £20, although this will be waived if you provide a UK address to which we can send your Travel Pack.
Holiday Parcs
Arrival and departure times
On the day of arrival, your accommodation will be ready for check in between 3pm - 8pm. If you have not already notified us, please contact us in advance with your estimated time of arrival either by e-mail to customerservices@eurocamp.co.uk or by calling 0844 4060406, as this will assist our on parc staff. If you are delayed on route to your parc and will not arrive by 8pm, please call us on 0844 4060406, so we can notify our on parc staff. On the day of departure, you must check out of your accommodation by 10am. Please note - if you do arrive on parc before 3pm you are welcome to use the parc facilities until your accommodation is ready for check in. Likewise, on your day of departure, once you have checked out of your accommodation (by 10am), you are welcome to use the parc facilities until you depart. If you arrive after 10pm or depart early, you may need to park your car outside the entrance as many parcs have a traffic barrier which opens at 8am and closes at 10pm.
Second vehicles
Most parcs impose restrictions on parking more than one vehicle on any one pitch and there may be an extra charge which is payable on arrival. For more information, please enquire at the time of booking.
Additional people joining on holiday
You must notify us before departure if additional people intend to join you for part of your holiday. Party and parc restrictions apply and an additional cost will be taken per adult, per night for a maximum of 6 nights.
Silence
Most parcs have a ‘silence after 10.30pm’ rule which you must comply with. It should be noted that even the quietest parcs can become busy and lively in high season.
Barbecues
Some parcs do not allow barbecues in high summer, or they have a designated barbecue area because of fire risk – see individual parc details to see if barbecues are available.
Disabled customers
Some of our parcs are suitable for disabled customers, please ask at the time of booking.
High and Low Season
Note that many parcs are very lively in the peak summer months, and much quieter with less ‘going on’ in early or late summer. Use our ‘Large & Lively’, ‘Peace & Quiet’, ‘Activity & Adventure’ and ‘Sightseeing & Culture’ parc categories to guide you in making the right choice.
Kids' Clubs
Please note that attendance at our children’s clubs is subject to availability. We limit the number of children that can attend each club for health and safety reasons - ask your courier on arrival for details to avoid disappointment. Our Fun Station, Energy and Base couriers are specialist employees and in the event of illness may be hard to replace immediately. Children aged 5 -17 will get most enjoyment from the Fun Station tailored to their age range (Leo's Fun Station, 7+ Fun Station, Energy, Base where available) but we can be flexible to allow for levels of maturity, personal preferences, or friends and siblings wanting to be together where attendance numbers permit. We regret that children under the age of 5 are not permitted to join in Leo’s Fun Station or Fun Station for All, however children aged 4 can attend of if in full time education. This is due to enhanced levels of supervision required. Children under 13 are not allowed to join all Base activities. For some Base activities there may be a charge payable locally.
Parc facilities
Many customers enjoy holidaying off peak when the weather can be just as good, the beaches less crowded and parcs which are lively during July and August are perfect for a quiet holiday. One of the reasons for our attractive off peak rates is that the parc owners may not open all the facilities. Swimming pools are generally open in May, but shops, restaurants and bars may only open if demand is sufficient.
Parc charges
Many activities are free but you normally pay for use of parc amenities such as tennis, mini-golf, sauna, solarium, pedalos, bicycle hire and pony rides for example. There may be a charge for other facilities on some parcs. There is usually a charge for washing and drying machines. Irons can be borrowed free of charge from Eurocamp reception.
Parc ratings
We show the official rating in the parc description, where one exists. In France, Italy and Portugal there are star ratings (4 star is the highest category). In Spain parcs are classed as luxury or 1st to 3rd category. There are no official ratings in the other countries listed in the brochure. Please note that official ratings normally reflect technical specifications such as the ratio of facilities to pitches and not the location or maintenance. There are parcs with lower official ratings which are still excellent and the simple fact that a parc has been chosen by Eurocamp is a guarantee of its quality as we insist on excellence.
Pitches
Read the parc descriptions carefully to get an idea of the amount of shade, terrain and individual pitch sizes, as these vary. Italian parcs tend to have smaller pitches with a different style of layout with mobile homes pitched end to end, seating areas to the front. Spanish parcs also tend to have smaller pitches.
Swimming Pools
Most pools only permit conventional swimming attire and ban swimming shorts, bermudas and cut-off jeans in the pools for hygiene reasons. Some require swimming hats to be worn, often available for hire/purchase on parc. Some smaller parcs require adults to supervise children bathing.
Lifeguards
Not all parcs have lifeguards on duty and those that do may only be on parc in July and August, or for limited time during the day. We strongly advise you to supervise your children at all times when they are using swimming pools and waterchutes. For your own safety we ask that you adhere to the swimming pool regulations.
Siesta Time
Further south it is often customary to take an afternoon ‘siesta’ so keeping things quiet during late afternoon is appreciated. A few parcs may close swimming pools at this time.
Parc accommodation
The 3 Bedroom Comfort, 3 Bedroom Deluxe and Premier ranges
As these are so popular, bookings must be for a minimum of three nights.
Supplements
Mobile home ranges vary in size, layout, sleeping accommodation and luxury features, hence the different price supplements. 3 Bedroom Comfort and 3 Bedroom Deluxe and Premier ranges are the most popular, so book early.
What to Take
Tents and mobile homes are all fully equipped - see page 18 for details of the equipment we provide. We will also send you a full itinerary in your Travel Pack. All you need to bring is your own bedding, unless you wish to hire linen from Eurocamp in advance. Blankets and pillows are provided in all accommodation. Please also remember to bring your torch as the lighting on parcs at night can vary, as well as a European or worldwide plug adaptor.
Cots
The travel cots we supply fit into the 2nd or 3rd bedroom in the 2 bedroom Comfort and Sunlight, 3 bedroom Classic, Superior and Premier. In accommodation where this is not possible the living area will have to be used. Please note, in some mobile homes, the single bed can be stored under the other single bed creating space for a travel cot. Also, in some other mobile homes, there is a detachable side rail for one of the single beds in the twin bedroom (the height of the rail is 2ft above the mattress), the mattress and the bed rails do not comply with UK cot regulations. It is not possible to book or request either of these options so if you want to guarantee that a cot will fit in the bedroom, then you must book a 2 bedroom Comfort or Sunlight, 3 Bedroom Classic, Superior, Sunlight or Premier.
No smoking
Smoking is not permitted inside mobile homes, chalets or tents. An ashtray is provided for external use only.
Parc Holiday Planning
Flexibility
With Eurocamp you have total flexibility to create your own holiday. You can go any day you choose, for as long as you choose, tell us which channel crossing you would like and when you would like to travel and we’ll do it all for you, subject to availability. During periods when availability is limited we may ask you to adjust your itinerary a little to fit exactly the space we have available to help us fill our accommodation efficiently.
Party sizes
Our tents hold up to a maximum of 6, 2 Bedroom Comfort range hold up to 7 (except on a small number of parcs where we have some mobiles that sleep 6). The 2 Bedroom Extra range sleep up to 7, and the 3 Bedroom Comfort, Deluxe and Premier ranges sleep up to 8. We will accept up to 4 adults in any of these. Please note that where parcs set maximum party restrictions, we may only be able to take 6 in the larger mobile homes.
Adjacent accommodation
We regret we cannot guarantee special requests including adjacent accommodation. You may make a request at the time of booking and we will notify our couriers at the parc. Or couriers may be able to meet your request, depending on the way in which our accommodation is located on the parc and the departure pattern of preceeding customers. Adjacent accommodation is not available on every parc.
Travelling in Holland
All persons from the age of 14 are required to show a valid identity document if stopped by the police or other law enforcement authorities on request. Passports or photo driving licenses are the only acceptable forms of I.D. A child aged 14-16 years currently on a parent’s passport is not considered a valid identity document and as such will be required to have his or her own.
General Information Apartment Specific
Accommodation classification
Where this information is available the official star rating is shown. Official ratings are usually based on ‘technical’ specifications rather than quality levels. Our more subjective ‘sun’ ratings are based on the level and comfort of the apartments and the location and facilities of the resort. The maximum ‘sun’ rating is 4 ‘suns’.
Arrivals and Departures
Arrival time in apartments is between 17.00 – 20.00. If you are likely to arrive after 20.00 you should telephone the resort in advance to enable arrangements for your late arrival to be made. You should normally vacate your apartment by 10.00 on the day of your departure.
Bed linen and towels
These are included in the price of all apartment holidays.
Cots and high chairs
These must be requested at the time of booking, or their availability cannot be guaranteed. At Pierre et Vacances resorts the cost of renting these items is £10 per stay. At other resorts charges vary.
Equipment
Please note that apartments are not normally supplied with ‘British’ items such as kettles or mugs. Ovens are generally ‘mini-ovens’ and are often placed on high shelves.
Overseas Representatives
No courier service is provided on our apartment holidays. If you require any help in resort, reception will be able to provide any assistance necessary.
Parking
Parking is frequently payable in resort and if so the cost is indicated in the brochure description. Due to the ‘car free’ nature of most of the resorts it will not normally be possible to park adjacent to your apartment.
Deposit
On arrival in resort you will be asked to pay a refundable security deposit. This will normally be returned to youSecurity on your departure, provided there have been no breakages in your apartment. The amount of the deposit varies between e180 - e300. The deposit can be paid in local currency or in most cases by credit card.
Tourist Tax
This is levied in most holiday areas and is not included in the price of apartment holidays. The tax is normally between e0.60 - e0.90 per day and should be paid directly to the resort.
