Barcelona celebrates 15 official holidays a year, including all the major Catholic festivals as well as New Year's Day (1 January), Labour Day (1 May) and Spanish National Day (12 October).

Palm Sunday (Fiesta de Ramos / Fira de Rams) represents one of the most important events in Spain's Christian calendar. In Barcelona there is a solemn procession that wends its way from La Seu (the cathedral) in the old town to one of the parishes.
Barcelona Marathon:
2nd March (Every year)
Barcelona's most enduring running event, the annual marathon starts and finishes at the Avenida Marìa Cristina, below the steep green hillside of Montjuïc.
Barcelona Guitar Festival: March - June (Every year)
Barcelona celebrates its annual guitar festival with a programme of concerts by master musicians at various venues from March until June.
Formula One: Spanish Grand Prix

The Circuit de Catalunya, just outside Barcelona, hosts the Spanish Grand Prix, the fifth race of the Formula One season.
Barcelona Summer Festival
June - Aug (Every year)
Popularly known as the "Grec Festival" and symbolised by the long-eared faun, Barcelona's summer festival is the most important cultural event of the season.
