La Regata delle Antiche Repubbliche Marinare (5th June tbc )
This historical boat race and procession is hosted annually, in turn, by the original four Italian maritime republics - Genoa, Venice, Pisa and Amalfi.
Venice Jazz (June tbc)
The Venice Jazz Festival takes place in the Lido di Venezia area, within the Palazzo del Cinema in Venice.
Festa del Redentore (July tbc)
Splendid fireworks light the Venice sky and an armada of decorated gondolas and oared boats colonises the canals during the festival of Il Redentore, second only to the carnival in popularity and a high point of any summer visit to the city.
Casino Giardino (July to August tbc)
The beautiful palace of Ca' Vendramin Calergi in Venice hosts a series of intimate concerts, each followed by a buffet.
Venice Film Festival (August to Sept tbc)
The Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica, better known internationally as the Venice Film Festival, is by far the oldest film festival still in existence today. Screenings take place in cinemas all over the city, but the centre of the action is the Lido area.
