Help and Information

Travel information

Do I need to advise you of my new car details and registration number?
No, unless the new vehicle is over 1.80m.

Do I need to advise you to add/remove a roof box, bikes or a trailer to my booking?
Yes, if we have booked any travel arrangements for you as they need to be amended with the operator. Eurocamp can arrange extra space on the ferry for roof boxes, bike carriers etc. You can find a wide range of car accessories on the Thule Website

How much time must I allow between my ferry departure time and arriving at port?
Long sea ferries generally start loading up to 2 hours prior to sailing, short sea sailings approximately 1 hour

How do I find details of how to get to my parc?
There is a link to the Via Michelin route planner here

Where can I find out about road tolls?
Visit www.autoroutes.fr where there is an option to select "english version"

Do you have any information on Slovenian road tolls ?
Vignette instead of kilometre toll

Austria's southern neighbour Slovenia is introducing a new toll system on its motorways from 1 July 2008, right at the start of the holiday season. The previous system based on the number of kilometres driven is being abolished and replaced by a vignette (toll sticker) costing 55 euros for a full year or 35 euros for six months. For a country holding the EU Presidency, this system is anything but ideal.

Considerable increase in costs
By introducing this new system Slovenia is effectively increasing motorway tolls in some cases 23 times over. The consequences, particularly for neighbours like Austria and for European tourists, will be quite considerable. In future drivers crossing the Slovenian border at Spielfeld and continuing to Croatia will now have to pay 23 times more than they used to. The 22 km stretch used to cost 1.50 euros return; it will now cost 35 euros.

Do you provide taxi transfers from airports?
We can now organise transfers from your arrival airport to selected parcs, either one way or return. Contact us for further information or see here.

Can I bring additional persons home on my ferry crossing?
No, the only exception however is if you are travelling with EuroTunnel as bookings are made per car rather than car & passengers.

What other essentials do I need to drive in Europe?
It is essential that you have a spare set of light bulbs and fuses for your car as in some countries, it is illegal not to have these items. Other requirements are a warning triangle, flash light and a first aid box. It is now required in Spain and Italy for all drivers to carry reflective jackets in their cars at all times.

What documents do I need for my car?
It is important that you inform your car insurance company that you are taking your car abroad. They will issue you with a Green Card. Some insurance companies may charge a small fee for this. This card must be taken with you, along with evidence of car insurance, your driving licence, original vehicle registration document or log book. If the car is not registered in your name (e.g. if it is a company car), you may be required to produce a letter from the owner, authorising use of the vehicle. You will also be required to display a GB or IRL sticker on your car (supplied by Eurocamp).

Do you have the new European Health Insurance Card to replace the E111?
You are advised to obtain a new European Health Insurance Card which replaces the E111 from January 2006 (E111 no longer valid). This is not a substitute for medical insurance and forms are available from your Post Office. The Foreign & Commonwealth Travel Advice Unit may have issued information about your destination. Visit www.fco.gov.uk for more information

What should I take with me during the ferry crossing?
If you are travelling overnight, you will need to pack a few overnight items in a small bag, e.g. washbag with soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, and a change of clothes for the following day. Even if you have a day crossing, it is important that you pack a small bag with any items that you may need during the crossing. Once you have left your vehicle, you will not be allowed back until the ferry docks at the arrival port
