Holiday in Slovenia

Slovenia, or Republic of Slovenia is located in southern Central Europe. With Italy to the west and the Adriatic to the southwest, it's ideally placed to offer the benefits of both. Four of the major European geographical regions meet in Slovenia: the Alps, the Pannonian plain, the Dinarides and the Med.

There is some glorious scenery in Slovenia, which is often understated. Take for example Triglav, Slovenia's highest peak, which is almost picture-postcard in stature and grace. Should you love a stroll through forest settings, then you'll be pleased to know that Slovenia is the 3rd most forested country in Europe, having approximately one half of its whole area covered by forests.

Slovenia culture

Along the delightful coastline, Slovenia's climate is sub-mediterranean, whilst as you move to the mountains, the climate becomes alpine and then continental with hot summers and cold winters in the valleys to the east.

For those lovers of culture, Slovenia is the homeland of numerous composers and musicians including Jacobus Gallus and violin virtuoso Guiseppe Tartini. Famous literates also hail from Slovenia, such as poets France Preseren and Dane Zajc and the writers Ivan Cankar and Vladimir Bartol.

Essentially, Slovenia is a beautiful place and there are numerous reasons to visit. The capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana is a remarkable city and is the cultural centre of the country.
