Costa De Azahar
A two hour drive from Barcelona will bring you to the Costa de Azahar, the orange blossom coast, an area of wonderful beaches and fortified towns and villages, including the fortress of Peniscola where El Cid was filmed. The town of Alcossebre is a paradise of tropical plants, waterfalls and exotic birds.
Getting There
With a choice of regional airports including Reus and Barcelona, fly drive is an option. Ferries are also available to Santander and Bilbao.
Costa Brava
The Costa Brava is one of the most beautiful coastlines of Spain where rugged cliffs alternate with sandy bays and harbours. This region has a contrast of landscapes including flat areas of vineyards and olive groves and the jagged rocky coastlines of the Costa Brava. Barcelona can also be found here and is one of the most exciting cities in Europe and boasts some of the most magnificent architecture, including many stunning buildings designed by Gaudi. Barcelona also has many excellent markets selling superb arts and crafts.
Costa Dorada
An hour's drive south of Barcelona brings you to the Costa Dorada. It is here that you will find the Catalan Pyrenees, the most unspoilt and wild area of Spain. The Costa Dorada is home to Universal Studio's Port Aventuura theme park, its also close to the city of Tarragona and its unique collection of Roman monuments.
