The Rhine
The Black Forest area is characterised by rushing streams, rolling hills and farmland dotted with traditional farmhouses, as much as by the famous forests. The mountains of Austria and Switzerland are Europe’s spectacular showpiece. The towering snow capped peaks reflect in sparkling lakes and flower strewn meadows are dotted with ruined castles, pretty churches and picture postcard villages with windows boxes ablaze with flowers. The mountains can be explored by car and on foot or the mountain railways and cable cars provide unforgettable rides to the summits.
