Local Events

Pula is the home to one of the largest Roman Amphitheatres in the world. Situated on the southern tip of the Istrian peninsula and dating from the 1st Century, it boasts a fine mixture of the ancient and modern and is a perfect place for sight-seeing and shopping.

Out and about

Porec is a city steeped in history and culture, located just 11km from Camp Lanterna. Here you can visit the Euphrasius Basilica, a World Heritage Site. 30 minutes' drive from the parc is Rovinj, and further afield is Pula with its own amphitheatre. Novigrad is a great resort, popular for its great restaurants and nightlife, just 11km from the parc. Guided tours at the Beredine Caves are in easy reach, as is fantastic shopping at Decumanus Street, 12km away.

Attractions

Brijuni Safari Park

Visit the safari park on the Brijuni islands which stretch along the south-west coast of the Istrian peninsula; they are separated from the Istrian mainland by the Fažana Channel which is 3 km wide.

Cave Baredine

The cave is a treasure chest of stalagmites, stalactites and underground sculptures created by water. A 40 minute guide takes you through the highlights of the cave system. The cave is 132 metres deep. There is a small souvenir shop.

Local Directions

Follow A4 motorway to Trieste, and then follow sign for Slovenian border and Koper/Capodistria. Pass through the Slovenian border and continue towards Pula/Porec. After about 30 minutes you will pass through the Croatian border. Take the first left turn towards Buje. Once at Buje follow signs for Porec and then signs for Novigrad. Carry straight on until you reach a crossroads and traffic lights. Turn left and carry on this road where the lagoon and sea is. Follow this road until you see a petrol station, turn right for Lanterna. 2kms down this road is the campsite on the right hand side.

Direct flights to Croatia are available from the UK, or fly to Trieste in Italy. Alternatively, choose routes through Germany and Austria if you prefer to drive.
