Parc reviews

Parc highlights

  • Find this parc in a valley next to a National Park

  • Explore the area with one of our Walking and Wildlife guides

  • Eurocamp Active - great for climbing and free guided walks in May and June

How to fill the time between Springwatch and Autumnwatch? Well, you could explore the vibrant flora and fauna of the Cévennes, the mountains and valleys that make up France’s most thrilling National Park.

And the best place to base your explorations? The award-winning Val de Cantobre parc, of course. This peaceful parc is a superb choice for both walkers and bird-watchers and is spectacularly positioned in the Dourbie Valley between the Tarn Gorges and the Cévennes National Park. Though very steep, some parts of the parc offer stunning views of surrounding hills, cliffs and the nearby village of Cantobre. Your parc features a water complex complete with lazy river and three slides for kids. Elsewhere, nestled within a cluster of renovated farm buildings, you’ll find a good restaurant, bar and pizzeria.

A Walking and Wildlife guide will be available on-parc between 5th May - 21st June 2014 providing a range of walks around the local area.

      Climbing

      cs-climbing-header

This superb parc is located 5 minutes away from the cliff of the same name, where you’ll find 80 hard sports routes, mainly at 7a and above.

The escarpment of Le Boffi above the Gorges De La Dourbie and overlooking the Millau Bridge is also nearby, providing another 250 sports routes across a wide range of grades; though it’s worth bearing in mind that getting here involves a 40 minute walk.

The best area for climbing, however, is the famous Gorges de la Jonte. Try driving or walking up the valley from Le Rozier and you could get neck strain looking up at the many astonishing lines, where you’ll find over 300 single and multi pitch sport and trad routes of all grades.

      Walking

      cs_walking_head_title

Walking here is full of surprises. The parc is based in a UNESCO world heritage site, with the amazing Gorges de Dorbie next door and is also within the Regional Nature Park of the Grand Causses, where the landscape features deep gorges and river valleys, which are full of wild flowers and orchids in spring. That’s when you should also look out for the many birds arriving from Africa; Bonelli's Warbler, the Honey Buzzard and the Red Backed Shrike are just a few of the glorious creatures you’ll find here during spring and summer. Nearby, Griffon Vultures fly above the gorges, and bright coloured blue and green lizards bask in the sun. If that isn’t enough to tempt you, there are also rare orchids, wild Mediterranean flowers and hundreds of butterflies to spot, making this a paradise for every walker and lover of wildlife.

Loved the Safari Tent; Cantobre was a beautifully situated and well run site. Cevennes is beautiful and lost to see and do if you like an active holiday.

This was our first eurocamp holiday. It was relaxed, friendly and the accommodation was excellent.

Cantobre is a lovely part of France. Campsite was very dutch with very few English people there, and hence the campsite entertainment was aimed a lot more at the dutch than the English. For example the children's bingo was in dutch. Pool complex was lovely and clean

Good parc, although my son didn't go to any of the activities as there weren't any that he liked the look of (12 years). The pool area would have been greatly improved by a small cafe and tables, even if they only did hot and cold drinks and ice creams.
