They say that Bénodet is Brittany's busiest, and most famous seaside resort. And we're not going to disagree. But, honestly, don't be thinking Blackpool or Brighton, for this is Brittany, and busy really only means bustling. For Bénodet is really not the sort of place to ever feel crowded – even in high season. Its broad sweep of sand is the reason so many people love this spot, with its wide variety of watersports and good natured young crowd lending a touch of surfer cool to the quiet enjoyment on offer at other Breton resorts. Add a sprinkling of challenging golf courses, a cluster of bars and a spa or two and you can start to see why Bénodet really does have something for everyone! Your apartments here are traditionally styled and situated in a relatively peaceful spot, just a few metres from the beach – but, with a swimming pool on site, you won't even have to walk that far for a swim. If busy, not boisterous, is your thing, Bénodet is perfect.

Attractions

The resort: Bénodet, with its old harbour and marina, is located at the mouth of the Odet, on the Cornouaille coast. Two lighthouses, Le Phare du Coq and Le Phare de la Pyramide (191 steps – 48 metres): a panoramic view of the coast from the Bay of Concarneau to the Eckmühl lighthouse and the Glénan Islands out at sea. Churches: Saint-Thomas and Notre Dame de la Mer as well as Perguet Chapel. The Pont de Cornouaille: an elegant 610 m long bridge, overhanging the Odet river by 30 m with a superb view of Bénodet port, Sainte-Marine and the estuary, and the Odet upstream. Les Vedettes de l’Odet (trips on the Odet, a river bordered by 15 châteaux), to the Glénans Islands. The surrounding area: The Artists’ Route in Cornouaille (1850-1950): the Quimper region and the Odet Valley, the Bay of Douarnenez and Cap Sizun, the Bigouden region, Bénodet, the Baie de la Forêt, plus Concarneau, Pont-Aven, Le Pouldu, Quimperlé, Pays des Avens (15-30 km). Quimper (18 km) and its 13th – 19th century Saint-Corentin cathedral, the old districts, the Breton Regional Museum, the Fine Art Museum, earthenware factories and potteries, the Jules Verlinghe earthenware museum, the Romanesque Church, the Bishop’s Palace Garden, the theatre and much more.

Local Directions

From Paris: take the A10 motorway in the direction of Nantes/Bordeaux. Take the A11 motorway in the direction of Le Mans via Chartres. At Le Mans, take the A81 motorway in the direction of Laval-Rennes. At Laval, take the N157 to Rennes, then the N24 in the direction of Lorient and take the N165 towards Quimperlé, and follow Quimper on the D783. Exit at Fouesnant Bénodet, take the D44 towards Fouesnant as far as Bénodet. When arriving at Bénodet, follow the town centre and take the 'Avenue de la mer' to the last roundabout, turn right the 'Avenue de la Plage' in the direction of the market and turn onto 'rue du Fort' and the residence is just in front of you.
