Rising from a sandy spit of land, which almost feels like an island, Cap Coz is perfectly placed to enjoy a spot of sunbathing on the pine-tree backed beaches, or a boat trip to the wildlife sanctuaries of the Glénan Islands. The handsome, balconied apartments all face the sea and share a couple of pools and sunny terraces. Travel slightly further and have a crêpe and coffee in one of Brittany's charming villages. So close to many of Brittany's gems, Cap Coz still has a touch of serenity about it – maybe it's because the beach here stretches right along the headland, or maybe it's because the pace of life is a little quieter (despite occasional summer recitals by French chanteuses on the promenade!). Whatever the reason, we're sure you'll love this hidden corner of France and, like us, find it the perfect base to explore Brittany's justly famous landscapes and busy market towns.

Just 50m from the apartment resort is a fantastic beach, perfect for all sorts of family activities, swimming or paddling in the sea and picnics. Cap Coz is in the Bay of Biscay and offers some great scenic walks, a variety of sports activities including golf, tennis and even watersports.

The resort: Cap-Coz is a small seaside resort in Southern Finistère, between Bénodet and Concarneau. Walks can be taken on the custom patrol coastal paths: Cap-Coz to Beg Meil, 2 hours and 2h 30 to Mousterlin via the Baie de la Forêt and the Roche Percée. 40 km from Bénodet to Concarneau (Le Letty, Le Perguet, Mousterlin Point, Beg-Meil, Cap-Coz, Fouesnant). The 'Maison des Marais' near Cap-Coz (1km): an activity, exhibition and information centre on the countryside on the Marshs of Penfoulics and ecology of the marshes. The surrounding area: The 'Route des Peintres' (artists' circuit) through Cornouaille (1850-1950): the Baie de la Forêt, Concarneau, Pont-Aven, Le Pouldu, Quimperlé, Bénodet, the Quimper region and the Odet Valley, the Bay of Douarnenez and Cap Sizun, the Bigouden region, the 'Pays des Avens' (20 - 50 km away). Local Directions

From Paris: take the A10 motorway in the direction of Nantes/Bordeaux. Then at St Arnoult-en-Yvelines, take the A11 motorway for Le Mans and Chartres. At Le Mans, take the A 81 motorway going to Laval-Rennes. Then at La Gravelle, take the N157 to Rennes. 1/ Either via the standard National road: at Rennes, head for St Brieux- Brest via the N12, then the N164 to Montauban-de-Bretagne and continue as far as Châteaulin. Then take the D165 to Quimper and Concarneau, where you take the D44 to Fouesnant and then signs to Cap-Coz. 2/ Or via the express National road: at Rennes, take exit no. 8 towards Vannes-Lorient via the N24. Then take the N165 to Lorient/Quimper/Brest. At Lorient, take exit no. 6 for Concarneau Rosporden, then the D44 for Quimper, Fouesnant and then signs to Cap-Coz.
