Local Events

The spectacular Tour d'ile de Re Yacht Festival is held on 7th May; the Bordeaux Fete de Vin, a celebration of the region's most famous export runs from 1st to 4th July; Francofolies celebrates French music ans song at La Rochelle between 12th and 17th July, and the weekly Summer Music Festival is held at Pauillac from 22nd July to 26th August.

Out and about

The town of Biscarrosse is a short drive away and here you can take part in various water sports activities, explore on foot or by bicycle, do a spot of shopping and relax at your pick of restaurants and bars. Les Landes forest is also a treat for walkers and cyclists. For uninterrupted views, visit the highest sand dune in Europe, the Dune du Pilat.

Attractions

La Coccinelle

Zoo with more than 800 animals from over 50 species. There is a small farm section to allow children to touch and feed the animals. There are many other attractions such as trains and rides for the children

Zoo de Bassin d'Arcachon

One of the largest zoos in France with many different species in their natural environment. The zoo has the largest bear enclosure in Europe. There is also a little tourist train and bouncy castles for entertainment

Ecomusée de La Grande Lande

This museum is situated in a natural park and gives an insight into how life was in the region over the past centuries. There is a steam train for visitors and a range of activities to practise traditional skills and crafts

Parc Ornithalogique du Teich

Situated in the "bassin d'Arcachon", this area is an indispensable stop for migratory birds travelling between Africa and Greenland. With over 80 species of birds all year and a further 180 migratory species taking refuge, rest and feeding time. There are plenty of observation points to view the birds.

Local Directions

Camping La Rive is located approximately 4km from the centre of the town of Biscarrosse Ville and less than 1km from the shores of the lake 'Etang de Cazaux et de Sanguinet'. Leave the town of Biscarrosse on the D652 direction Sanguinet. After approximately 5 miles you will see a sign for La Rive on your left hand side (the site well signposted on this road anyway). Turn left here and drive along this small unclassified road for approximately 1 mile, and it will bring you to the entrance of the site.
