Local Events

Lous-le-Saunier is the venue for spectacular firework displays on 11th and 28th July in honour of St.Desire. The town also holds free outdoor music concerts throughout the summer.

Out and about

Stroll or cycle around the stunning lake to which you have direct access from the parc. Take a drive to the Herisson valley where you can walk along the footpath lined with no less than 31 waterfalls and visit its museum where you can learn of the local history and legends. 22 miles away is the town of Arbois, a very pretty town worth a day-trip.

Reception

• Languages spoken: French, English, German and Dutch.
• Other services: Upon arrival there will be 1 plastic card issued to each family. Units will be credited to this card for use at the pool according to the number of people in the party (including children over .85 mtrs tall) and also the duration of the holiday. For example a family of 4 people on a 14 day holiday will have a total of 56 units credited to their card. The card is entered into a machine at the entrance to the pool and each time a member of the family uses the pool 1 unit will be deducted from the total on the card, however, if all family members are not using the pool at the same time, somebody needs to go along to the pool to bring the card back. If all the units on the card are used up before the end of the customers holiday, then each person will be charged the following tariffs for season 2010:- All pools (June - mid Sept) €6.10 adults & children over 1.20 mtrs tall, €3.00 children .85 - 1.20 mtrs. Outdoor pools €4.10 adults & children over 1.20mtrs tall, €2.60 children .85 - 1.20 mtrs tall (children under .85m are free) or €71 1 x book of passes = 20 admissions, €38 = 10 admissions. The above rules apply because the pool is also open to the public. Post box, fax, internet, phonecards.

Dino Zoo

Dino Zoo traces the evolution of animals from millions of years ago to the present day. There are reconstructions of a variety of dinosaurs

Chateau d'Arlay

The château, a former convent, has immaculate gardens, with fun being the theme. The trees and plants are laid out in a scheme to resemble a number of games such as croquet, dominoes and draughts. Since 1994 the château has been home to the centre for wild fauna species including owls and birds of prey

Les Grottes de la Balme

The caves of La Balme are particularly surprising because of the richness and diversity of their underground phenomena. Animations allow discovery of the beauty of the cave (stalactites and stalagmites) via a light and sound show. Infra-red cameras allow the visitor to observe the bats which live in the caves. Local Directions

From Lons-le-Saunier: Leave Lons-le-Saunier on the D471 in the direction of Pontarlier and Lac de Chalain. Do not deviate from the D471 between Lonsle-Saunier and Pont de Navoy.You will pass a right-hand turn signposted for 'Lac de Chalain' approximately 15 minutes after leaving Lons-le-Saunier – ignore this sign as it takes you along a shorter but windy and very slow route with only limited scenic interest. Follow the D471 through Pannessières, Crançot, Mirebel and downhill to Pont de Navoy. At Pont de Navoy pass over the bridge and immediately take the first turning on the right, signposted 'Lac'de Chalain' (D27). Continue along the road, eventually you will see the lake on your left. Carry on around the lake towards the opposite end where you will see signs for Domaine de Chalain. Turn left by the pharmacy signposted Domaine de Chalain. The campsite is situated approximately 4 kilometres at the end of this road. From Lyon Airport: take the A39 north and get off at Lons le Saunier. From here follow local directions as above
