Local Events

Children's theatre is given a raucous outing at the Voila Enfentillages Children's Festival in Montpellier from 7th to 15th of May; while the Printemps des Comediens Comedy Festival returns to Montpellier for its 21st year from 3rd June to 6th July.You will also find Montpellier host to a major European Dance Festival from 20th June to 5th July.

Out and about

Canet Plage, popular for watersports, is about 3km from the parc. A bustling, modern seaside resort, there is an array of seafood restaurants and cafés to choose from, many located in view of the gorgeous long sandy beach. The lively city of Perpignan is a short drive away northbound, while southbound are St Cyprien, Argelès and Collioure - all beautiful towns at which to spend a family day out in their own right. Also at St Cyprien is the popular Aqualand water park, and at Argelès is Argelès Adventure, Canyoning Park and Luna Park, great for all ages.

Meeting dolphins, whale shows and shark tunnels are amongst some of the attractions of Marineland

Large waterpark with an excellent selection of pools and slides. Suitable for toddlers and teenagers. Largest waterpark in Rousillon. Large restaurant area (fast-food, grill and bar). Gift shop. Free parking.

Reserve Africaine

African Reserve of Sigean lodge more than 3800 animals on nearly 300 hectares park semi-natural Animalier, Space offered is sufficiently vast so that the amimals remain wild and express their natural behaviors fully.

Abbaye St Martin du Canigou

Founded at the beginning of the 11th Century. Abandoned during the Franch Revolution and restored between 1902 and 1932. The Abbey is at an altitude of 1100 metres. Access is only by jeep, there is a service from the bottom of the hill. Guided tour is 45 minutes long. 25km west of Perpignan.

Museum of Catalan Crafts + Traditions

Situated in the heart of the old village, next to the medieval church, this remarkable museum displays with with great taste, a collection of tools and materials from times not long gone by about field labouring, wine making and crafts that are common to the villages of the region.

The museum houses permanent exhibitions devoted to dinosaurs which include fossils, eggs and tracks of dinosaur. Models and figures of the dinosaur can be seen.

Local Directions

Leave the A9 motorway at junction 41 (signposted Perpignan centre/Aeroport/Rivesaltes). At the roundabout immediately after the peage, take the exit signposted towards Canet and Le Bacares, this will bring you onto the D83. Continue on this road past a ‘Carrefour’ hypermarket complex for about 8 km. Take the right hand slip road signposted to Canet en Rousillon. This will lead you onto the D81 where you should go straight ahead at the next 2 roundabouts passing the towns of Torreilles and Ste Marie. Carry on along this road until you come to the next roundabout (large roundabout with a flyover over it) where you should go all the way round and double back on yourself so that you find yourself back on the D81 in the opposite direction. Take the second slip road to your right (you should see a signpost to La Brasilia) which will lead you onto a small windy road. When you come to the next roundabout take the 2nd exit turning left and La Brasilia is at the end of this road.
