Le Parc de Fierbois offers a host of activities, many of which take place in and around the parc’s central square. Away from the square you will find an impressive modern poolside bar complex to please all the family, with entertainment in high season. The estate also features a charming lake where you can hire pedalos and canoes in high season, or simply enjoy a stroll around it. The many possibilities for days out include a wide choice of nearby châteaux, and of course the vineyards of Chinon and Vouvray. You are also close to the town of Tours, perfect for shopping and sight-seeing.

Local Events

From the fast to the folkloric, Le Mans is synonymous with the 24 hour race that takes place on the 18th and 19th June, while gentler souls may prefer the Loire Valley Festival from 7th to 13th June at Amboise. Then there is the International Garden Festival from 30th April to 16th October, in the idyllic grounds of Chaumont sur Loire chateau.

Out and about

Here you are never far away from a château, wine cellar or vineyard. At nearby Azay-le-Rideau 'fairy-tale' castle you can marvel at the sound and light (son et lumière) display illustrating its history. Or if it's shopping and eating out you're looking for then medieval Tours is perfect, complete with stunning cathedral. Further afield in the town of Mosnes is the Fantasy Forest, where activities include mountain biking, canoeing and a tree-top adventure.

Aquarium de Touraine

Aquarium with plenty to see for the children. Touch tank and feeding shows with crocodiles. Shop, restaurant, bar and picnic area.

Futuroscope

Futuroscope is the European theme park of the moving image. It is both fun and educational and the futuristic buildings house many attractions. 140,000 miles of film are projected each year. An excellent selection of services including many restaurants, baby changing, cash machines, parking, shops etc.

Chateau d'Usse

Château d' Ussé was the inspiration for the tale of Sleeping Beauty. Situated on the edge of the forest of Chinon, the present château was built in the 15th century. Gothic and Renaissance architecture. The old chapel and large gallery house many 11th century tapestries.

Château de Villandry

Villandry is an elegant castle from the Renaissance period (1536 completion). This castle is also famous for the magical beauty of its gardens. The property and gardens are majestic and full of harmony.

Chateau de Chenonceau

Built in 1513 on the river Cher, it is one of the finest châteaux in the Loire with outstanding architecture. The château is home to fine collections of Renaissance furniture, 16th,17th centuries tapestries and a great number of masterpieces. 70 Hectares of parks and gardens for walks.

Abbaye de Fontevraud

Built at the end of the 11th Century. Before the French Revolution it was the most important and richest Abbey in France. Served as a prison between 1804-1965. Now home to the cultural centre for the west of France. Surrounded by beautiful gardens.

Château Azay-le-Rideau

Built on an island by the Indre River in the early 16th Century. The castle is a mixture of two great styles - French and Italian Renaissance. The interior is preserved as a renaissance museum. It houses a collection of 16th and 17th Century Flemish tapestries

Château de Chinon

Château de Chinon is mostly in ruins but is impressive for the views it offers over the Vienne valley. Visited by Joan of Arc to persuade Charles VII to regain his Kingdom. Richard the Lionheart died here in 1199

Zoo de Beauval

Situated in the heart of the Loire valley, this is one of the best zoos in France. Great selections of animals to view, but the main attraction are the white tigers. Regular exhibitions feature birds of prey and feeding the animals

Wine Museum Chinon

Local Directions

From the A10 motorway: Leave at junction 25, sign-posted ‘Ste Maure de Touraine’. (This junction is 45km south of Tours). After leaving the tollbooth, turn right on the D760 towards ‘Ste. Maure’. Continue on this road for 1.4km until you reach a crossroads with traffic lights. Turn left (sign posted Tours 34km and Soringy 17km). You are now climbing out of ‘Ste. Maure’ on the N10, heading towards Tours. Traffic calming measures have been introduced along this stretch of road so be aware that the road changes from dual carriageway to single-carriageway regularly! After 6.3 km (rising up out of a dip), take the turning right, sign posted ‘Ste Catherine 0.7km and Camping de Fierbois’. Follow the road through the village. Traffic calming measures have also been introduced through the village road narrowing at intervals! Follow the road through the village (keep to the right fork past the local pub and NOT left past the pub. When you reach the small crossroads, go straight ahead. After 0.5km, turn right and follow the narrow road for 1 km until you reach the campsite gates.
