Parc Highlights

  • Enjoys a peaceful setting in the grounds of an old manor house

  • The Loire River is just a short distance away

  • The magnificent Chambord chateau is also close by

With its picture postcard setting, this parc makes a lovely place to relax, or an ideal base for discovering the Loire.

Enjoying a peaceful location in the grounds of a lovely old manor house, the parc has been developed by the friendly owners to a very high standard, with excellent facilities, especially for young families. The superb pool complex has two pools, one with a ‘lazy river’, toboggans and a retractable roof over one of the pools. There is an indoor Spa and Jacuzzi with a Hammam (Turkish bath) and massage available. The parc is extremely pretty, in a lovely setting close to a small village and is also perfectly placed for sightseeing. The Loire river is just a short distance away, with opportunities for canoeing and fishing. Most importantly, the Loire is most famous for its many châteaux, two of which, Chambord and Blois, are close to hand.

Neighbouring pitches are available to book on this parc. Please call our travel advisors to check availability for the 2012 season.

Local Events

From the fast to the folkloric, Le Mans is synonymous with the 24 hour race that takes place on the 18th and 19th June, while gentler souls may prefer the Loire Valley Festival from 7th to 13th June at Amboise. Then there is the International Garden Festival from 30th April to 16th October, in the idyllic grounds of Chaumont sur Loire chateau.

Out and about

The Royal palace, Château de Chambord is just 6 miles away, one of the most extravagant in the region and well worth the visit, day or night. Slightly further out is the beautifully romantic Château de Chenonceau. Also visit the narrow streets of Tours for a spot of shopping and a bite to eat, and marvel at its Gothic cathedral. For walkers and cyclists, there are many forests and parks waiting to be explored. Finally for chocolate lovers there's the Max Vauche Chocolate Factory, just 15km away.

Customer tips

Local recommendations and tips our customers have shared with us following their holiday at Le Château des Marais.

"We visited the Safari Train at Beaumarchais which was well worth the drive and Château de Chambord. This was excellent - we recommend taking a picnic and spending the day there."
K. Adlam, Cheshire

"Blois is a lovely nearby town and we'd recommend the Magic Museum for the kids. Le Duc de Guise italian restaurant in the square located below the château has a very pleasant upstairs terrace, serves good vegetarian food and amazing pizzas! We enjoyed the Château at Chaumont sur Loire - it has an interesting history, well chosed art exhibition and lovely grounds for the kids to run wild! We also had a fantastic Sunday lunch with the children at Hotel de la Loire. The atmosphere was great and they created a vegetarian alternative for one of us on one of the set menus."
A. Lumb, Buckinghamshire

"We loved the local wine tour, bought some fantastic local wines. We also enjoyed Château de Chambord, very impressive, as well as the cities of Blois and Orléans."
J. Pickering, North Yorkshire

"We all enjoyed the Château de Chambord with local market that we were able to cycle to. We also used kayaks at St Dye, whose staff were very helpful and friendly. The local train at Mer to get to Orléans was a great way to get about and eco-friendly."
L. Hunt, Tyne and Wear

"The Château de Chambord is stunning and is set in magnificent grounds - the woods here are home to wild boar. The château at Blois is always worth a visit. There was something for everyone at Parc Floral de la Source near Orléans, including beautiful gardens, a butterfly house, crazy golf, a small zoo and some very imaginative climbing frames and other playgrounds for children. Not well known but excellent!"
D. Power, West Glamorgan

"We canoed down the River Loire which was fantastic fun and great for all ages. It's so shallow so was perfectly safe and really enjoyable. We also visited the Max Vauche chocolate factory which was also a big hit - I think I have put on a stone in weight! Château de Chambord was spectacular and great fun to cycle around."
J. Meekings, Buckinghamshire

"Lunch at the Hotel du Commerce in Bracieux was excellent, very French and family friendly with reasonable prices. The Zoo at Beauval was excellent too, and Château de Chambord was magnificent. We also really enjoyed the Chocolate Factory."
M. Gamble, Hertfordshire

"Loches is stunning and unspoilt and the châteaux at Chambord and Chenonceau were very impressive."
C. Sherwin, Essex

"We visited Château de Chambord which was very good. The local vineyard in the village was really nice and the wine and cow's cheese that they make is delicious! I would recommend people shop in the village at the boulangerie, patisserie and charcuterie etc for excellent local produce."
J. Phillips, Cambridgeshire
