Local Events

Printemps des Musees occurs in Paris at the beginning of May, when most museums offer free entry; the Fountain show at Versailles from 26th March to 28th September features the lavish fountains accompanied by classical music, while the Joan of Arc Festival in Reims celebrates St Joan with historical shows and depictions during June.

Out and about

Mont St Michel is a short drive away, sitting atop a medieval village. Also close by is the port town of St Malo as well as the seaside resort of Granville, where you can visit the Aquarium du Roc. Further afield is the port town of Caen, the historic Bayeux, and the islands of Jersey and Guernsey, all perfect family days out.

The Bayeux Tapestry tells the story of the Norman Conquest. It is over 900 years old and is 70 metres long with 58 different episodes

Aquarium de St. Malo

Opened in 1996 the aquarium gives a tour of the oceans of the world and their sealife from tropical waters to arctic ocean. One pool (120m2) offers the opportunity to touch the fish. Sail on board a real submarine (Nautibus). Magnificent shark collection, free car parking and picnic area

Musee du Debarquement

The museum has a mission to tell younger generations about the events of 6th June 1944. The museum was created in 1953 and is built on the site of the artificial harbour. Guided tours are available in English and German. A visit lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes. Souvenir gift shop at the museum

Musée de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale

Small museum dedicated to the second world war. Displays of miliatary weapons and uniforms

Local Directions

From St Malo/Rennes/Avranches: As you approach Avranches take the Cherbourg exit of the A84. Follow this road until you come to a roundabout with McDonalds on your left. Go straight across the roundabout following signs for Sartilly and Granville on the D973. After Sartilly continue along the same road (D973) towards Granville. Camping Lez Eaux is situated along this road on the left hand side. As you approach the site there is a large white sign for the site on the right. Turn left into the campsite.
