Out and about

William the Conqueror set sail from Dives-sur-Mer harbour to claim the English throne in 1066, and this harbour, now home to many pleasure boats, is within walking distance from the residence. The town also has a good selection of shops, cafés and restaurants, and activities such as water sports, golf and horse riding.

The resort: Dives is a well-preserved, charming and authentic old town which is sure to appeal, with its 14th century covered market, 11th century Gothic church (extended during the 15th century), the village of William the Conqueror with its craftsmen, antique dealers and the famous "Hostellerie", a former coaching inn. The surrounding area: Cabourg: a charming traditional Normandy resort dating back to the Belle Epoque, with a fine sand beach, the Grand Hotel, the casino and the famous Marcel Proust Promenade. From Paris: A14 motorway then A13 direction Rouen/Caen. Exit n°29b Dozulé/Cabourg and follow signs to Houlgate. After leaving the motorway, go through 2 roundabouts then 2 traffic lights. At the 3rd traffic light, turn left and follow signs for Port Guillaume-Georges V. Go past the police station and turn right at the end of the street. 150 m further on, cross the railway track and head towards the reception located within the residence (opposite the marina).
