This fascinating mediaeval village is a world away (although, actually, rather near) the bright lights of St Tropez. Parcs de Grimaud, your holiday residence, is just ten minutes’ drive away, on the bay of St Tropez, just a 20-minute stroll away from Port Grimaud. Here at the Port you'll enjoy wandering around a leisurely labyrinth of canals, fishermen's cottages, and streets lined with small, independent restaurants and bars. From the tidy harbour you can indulge in a variety of watersports or take a boat trip. Back at your hacienda-style apartments, you can enjoy a swim in the pool, or a round on the 8 hole pitch and putt course. Set in a 16-hectare, lovingly landscaped estate lying between the hills and the sea, Parcs de Grimaud comes highly recommended.

Out and about

The glamour of St Tropez is close by and definitely worth the trip. A little closer to resort however is the charming marina at Port Grimaud, with its beach and good selection of shops, bars and restaurants. The nearby village of Grimaud is also worth a visit, with its castle ruins waiting to be explored.

The resort: Grimaud is a mediaeval seaside village set above modern "lakeside dwellings": The mediaeval village of Grimaud and the ruins of its 11th century castle, the Romanesque Church of Saint Michel, the Rue des Templiers, the Chapel of the Penitents, the mill of Saint Roch, the Pont des Fées (Fairy Bridge). The "lakeside dwellings" of Port Grimaud: colourful houses covered in Roman tiles, separated by canals, with alleyways, shady squares and little bridges. The surrounding area Notre-Dame-de-la-Queste Chapel (3 km) featuring a remarkable gilt wood Baroque altarpiece depicting scenes from the Virgin's life, "La Corniche des Maures" coast road (35 km), Hyères and the "Iles d'Or" (golden isles) (45 km), gulf and peninsula of St Tropez: St Tropez (10 km), Ste Maxime (7 km), Gassin (10 km) and Ramatuelle (16 km), two picturesque hilltop villages with splendid views.

Local Directions

From Paris: A6 motorway to Lyon, then A7 and A8 "La Provençale"; exit at Le Muy. Then take the D25 going to Sainte Maxime. Cross Sainte Maxime and take the N98 towards Saint Tropez to Saint-Pons-les- Mures. At the 3rd roundabout, follow the Pierre & Vacances signs. Note: do not confuse the Pierre & Vacances residence "Les Parcs de Grimaud" with the nearby Pierre & Vacances village "Les Restanques".
