Parc highlights

  • Hop into the saddle with horse riding on offer only 500 metres away

  • Eurocamp Active - bike hire, road cycling routes, climbing & summer ski available

Lose yourself in Les Ecrins National Park - an outdoor Alpine playground millions of years in the making, with rushing rivers and tumbling waterfalls aplenty. Sound like an explorer’s paradise? It’s lucky, then, that the small and friendly Le Belledonne is located on the edge of this French-owned National Park, making it ideal for walking, cycling and water sports.

Just 7 km north of the parc, you’ll find Bourg d’Oisans, a town brimming with shops and authentic restaurants - perfect for that taste of French life. Back on parc, you’ll find excellent facilities, including a pool complex with three pools, volleyball, boules, a fitness circuit and sauna, all complemented by a warm welcome from the friendly managers. There is a terrace bar beside the pool where you can enjoy a relaxing drink and a restaurant, too, and in high season, an ‘animateur’ organises activities for children.

Overall, we really enjoyed the location and the parc itself was beautiful with large plots around the accommodation. We were disappointed though at some aspects of the end of season management and how much the area literally closed down from the 1st Sept.

Le Belledonne is a beautiful site with good facilities and a lovely little pool complex, with great views. It is near a noisy road however, and is run by a Dutch company so everything about it (and most of its occupants) are Dutch. Would have been nicer to have more of a French feel, and a greater mix of nationalities.

Everything in the Alps closes on 1st September, so our activities were limited mainly to walking - luckily we like walking! The weather was superb. Unfortunately you are dependant on the consideration of your neighbours on this type of holiday - we asked for a quiet location, and were given the tent in the furthest corner of the park. However, we were surrounded by Dutch people in their caravans, who all liked to watch TV very loudly into the night! Also, several screaming babies woke the whole campsite several nights running (why would you take a baby camping?!) - not Eurocamp's fault though.

Word of warning about the Eurocamp personalised holiday guide - we drove for an hour and a half to one of the 'recommended sites' and found it had been shut for three years!

Eurocamp 'free beach bag' not a patch on previous years and smacks of cost cutting, I know this because we received one on a different holiday earlier in the year - we did not get one on this holiday as the courier said they had run out because it was the end of the season!.

Gorgeous area and a beautiful parc. The campsite facilities are getting a bit tired and the kids park has been there and has been unchanged for years. The play park does not have much for older kids. But the area and the amazing things to do in the area more than make up for that.
