Attractions

Parco di Pinocchio

The park of Pinocchio could not have been set anywhere other than in Collodi. The author adopted this village for his surname after spending most of his childhood here. Established over a span of 30 years, the park is far from being a traditional theme park, rather it is a creation of fantasy endowed with unique charm. Stroll along the paths and experience a living story amid unspoilt pearls of nature blended with beautiful art.

Pistoia Zoo

A few kilometres away from the centre of Pistoia, immersed in the hillside is this 75,000 square metre zoo. One of the most interesting zoological gardens in Italy both because of its position and the number of species gathered. Over 600 animals from around the globe including flamingos, llamas, camels, tigers, elephants, hippos and bears. There is also an area where children can touch the animals such as goats and rabbits.

Customer tips

Local recommendations and tips our customers have shared with us following their holiday at Norcenni Girasole Club.

"Florence was amazing and easy to get to by train. Also enjoyed Volterra and Siena."
C. Mullen, London

"The Pinocchio Park near Lucca was good for families with small children plus anyone who likes butterflies and wandering through beautiful gardens. Lucca is beautiful, and Assisi and Cortona in Umbria are both worth a visit. Florence, of course, is unmissable. Recommended tour trips are for Rome, the Chianti Wine trip and a Renaissance dinner."
I. Crawford, Essex

"Parc excursion 'Florence by night' was excellent. Such a lovely place. Siena is also a fantastic place, and if visiting in July or August, must see 'Il Palio' bi-annual horse racing event. Wine tasting on site was excellent."
M. Cotterill, Shropshire

"The small town of Greve is worth a visit and holds markets on a Saturday. Arezzo was enjoyable, as was Siena. Recommend you book in advance if you wish to visit the Basilica in Florence to avoid huge queues! Also at Pisa, close to the leaning tower is a fantastic restaurant called La Taverna di Emma."
J. Smith, North Yorkshire

"Volterra is a lovely place where we had lunch and a walk around. Pisa was good to see although children under age 8 are not allowed up the tower."
J. Cochrane, Co. Antrim

"We loved Florence, Siena, San Gimignano and many small towns, plus gorgeous Tuscan countryside! The train from Filgine to Florence was very easy."
J. Little, Devon

"We really enjoyed Florence and Siena and recommend using the trains as they're cheap, efficient and part of the experience! Also recommend pre-booking if you wish to visit the Uffizi gallery in Florence to avoid the long queues."
A. Marklew, County Durham
