Out and about

Elba's capital city, Portoferraio, is a short drive away, and here you can visit Napoleon's houses, as well as the attractive marine area. For hikers, there's a treat at Monte Capanne - at the peak you will have amazing views across the island as well as a panoramic view of the mainland of Italy and the islands of Corsica, Capraia, Pianosa and Monte Cristo. Venturing off the island into mainland Italy, fun days out are to be had at Cavallino Matto amusement park and Aqua Village water park.

Napoleon Museum Villa dei Mulini

This 17th Century villa is where Napoleon and his court resided. It houses period furniture, memorabilia and a collection of paintings. The Emperor's library was transferred from Fontainebleau to Portoferraio

The Villa di San Martino was the summer house of Napoleon. It was bought in 1852 from the Russian prince Demidoff, husband of Matilda Bonaparte.

Placed on a hill above Porto Azzurro this amusement park opens only in evenings from 18:00 to 02:00 and it welcomes both children and adults with a variety of playgrounds and games, sports grounds, restaurants, pizzerias and with live music.

Local Directions

From the ferry terminal follow signs 'all directions', turn left out of the port and join dual carriageway. Go straight on over 2 roundabouts and at the 3rd take the first exit for Procchio and Marciana Marina. Once in Procchio turn left for Marina di Campo. On arriving in La Pila take the left turn signposted for Marina di Campo. At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit and after going over a small bridge turn right. The site is 100m on the left.
