Local Events

Festivals range from the world-famous Barcelona Guitar Festival from 15th March to 15th June, to the rustic charms of the Snail Festival in Lleida from 20th to 22nd May. The European Balloon Festival in Igualada from 6th to 10th July on the other hand, is a spectacular display of around 40 hot air ballons from around the world.

Out and about

Waterworld at Lloret de Mar is the largest water park in Europe, and is just an hour and a half drive away making for a perfect family day out, as does Marine Land, offering waterslides and dolphin shows. Take a boat trip around the Medes Islands, just about a mile away from the mainland, on a glass-bottomed boat, or go snorkelling or scuba diving in the clear warm sea.

The following travel details are available:

Local Directions

A7 motorway at junction 5 signposted L'Escala/L'Estartit. After the peage turn left onto GI623 direction l'Escala/l'Estartit. Follow this road for about 20km until you reach a large roundabout (there is a small tourist information centre over the roundabout and to the right). Continue straight over the roundabout and you will very shortly come to a second roundabout. Continue straight over again in the direction of 'Torroella de Montgri'. The road climbs uphill and bends to the left. Turn right down a sliproad onto the GI632 signposted 'Torroella de Montgri 11km/L'Estartit 17km'. You will pass by a small industrial area on the right. At the roundabout continue straight over past 'L'escala Karting' on the right and follow this road for approx 5 miles, you will pass through the small Village of El Baix Emporda and Petro Cat filling station on the right hand side. At the end of this road, turn left passing through the small village of Ulla, straight over the small roundabout with a Campsa filling station to the right and it will bring you into Torroella de Montgri. You will pass by a Renault garage on your left and a Ford garage on your right. The road then bends to the right and you will reach a large roundabout. Take the 2nd exit, follow signs for L'Estartit onto the GI641, which is the main road into Estartit. At the next roundabout go straight over, past the Caprabo supermarket, continue down this road past 'Estartit Karting' on the left. About 1km along before you reach the town, you will see a large sign marking the entrance to Camping Castell Montgri on the left.
