Pineda de Mar is right on the doorstep with its stunning 3km long sandy beach - a tree-lined promenade curves alongside the beach, lined with convenient beach cafes, shops and bars. You’ll find sun loungers to rest your head on, umbrellas for shade and plenty of water sports for the active. The entire stretch of coastline is blessed with beautiful beaches- try the Sant Pol Beach, just 15 minutes’ drive along the coast, for its dramatic dunes and delicious seafood restaurants. For something different head north to Lloret de Mar and visit the gorgeous botanic clifftop gardens. Of course the vibrant city of Barcelona is only an hour away and should not be missed!

European Balloon Festival, Igualada

The Catalonian town of Igualada each year hosts one of the largest balloon festivals in Europe. Around 25,000 spectators come to watch 40 hot air balloons take to the sky in a colourful display, with market stalls and local cuisine making for a really great day out.

The Festa Major de Gracia festival is Barcelona's biggest, most colourful and most popular neighbourhood festival. The residents of Gracia decorate their streets in keeping with their chosen theme, with the aim of winning the coveted 'best decorated street' prize. The residents take the competition very seriously! As a result, the standard is very high. The best time to visit is in the evenings as the illuminations on most streets are switched on at around 8.30om.

La Merced Festival

La Merced Festival

Held in honour of Mare de Deu de la Merce, the Patron Saint of Barcelona, La Merced Festival is the main festival of the city. The main events take place on September 24 but festivities last over five days, with up to 500 different activities. Some of the most famous events are the Castellers (human towers) in the Gothic Quarter and the Correfoc (procession of fire breathing dragons) on the Via Laietana as well as the unmissable Parade of Giants.

Off Parc Activities

Pineda de Mar offers a wide range of water sports such as kayaking and body boarding. You can also participate in skate boarding and on the beach, volleyball and football. In high season children will also find a wide range of activities on the beach front including water games, inflatables and even foam parties. Keen golfers will find plenty to enjoy - along the coast there are five golf courses to choose from, but for those looking for more action, head for the Parc Natural del Montnegro and try your hand at paintballing and quad biking.
