Tarragona is a short drive from the parc, and further north is the exciting city of Barcelona, with its incredible Gaudi architecture, famous Ramblas, inimitable cathedral, harbour and great seafood restaurants... PortAventura is a very large theme park within easy reach. It has five different themed areas with a great choice of rides and some very scary roller coasters. The large aquapark is the perfect place to cool off and there are even three golf courses, ensuring that there really is something for everyone.

Tarragona, Costa Dorada


If you're looking for culture then you will not be disappointed by the medieval old town of Tarragona with its rich Roman history and wonderful architectural heritage. The Roman amphitheatre is well worth a visit. A walk along the ancient ramparts provides sweeping views across the city and don't miss the gorgeous beach of El Milagro.

Cambrils is a beautiful fishing village with fantastic blue flag beaches, bars and restaurants, just 1 km from the parc. You can explore the length of Cambril’s main coastal road on the small tourist train, or you can stop of at Parc Pinaret which is perfect for picnicking.

The exciting city of Barcelona, with its Gaudi architecture, Picasso museum and inimitable cathedral is well worth a visit. The Camp Nou stadium and FCB museum is a big draw for all football fans, while the harbour and beaches are perfect for a break between all that sightseeing.

As well as being the birthplace of the famous architect Gaudi, Reus is also famous for brandy production and for its display of architectural styles. June is the best time to visit because the town throws some huge fiestas with live music and entertainment in the town squares all night.

La Tomatina

La Tomatina is a world famous event in which participants hurl tomatoes at each other in the name of fun! Held in the town of Bunol on the last Wednesday in August each year, it is known as the world's biggest food fight. The week long festival attracts 30,000 visitors each year. But it is not just a food fight - the event features music, parades, dancing, and fireworks. 2020 dates to be confirmed.
