A beach for every day of the week? Almost…

If multiple beaches, your own windsurfing school and endless days of sunshine feature on your holiday wishlist, don’t miss Šimuni Camping Village on Pag Island, Croatia.

We couldn’t resist setting up camp here once we saw the 6 beaches – all accessed directly from site, with one that has a playground for kids – plus a water sports centre and diving club offering trips to underwater caves. Back on dry land, you’ll find a restaurant, pizzeria by the beach, coffee bar, cocktail bar, supermarket and daily fish market. Other facilities include tennis courts, beach volleyball and a payable climbing wall, with instructors on hand to help. The parc organises lots of entertainment and events throughout July and August, including weekly fire shows and movie nights.

Just perfect for our needs, camp layout with no cabins being more than 150 metres from sea, amazing beaches for swimming (better than any swimming pools to my mind). The camp facilities are great, good shop, good café/bars, the area is beautiful if quiet and sleepy is your thing. We will probably go again.

Superb holiday overall.

The weather was incredible (which the locals say was hotter than the norm by a few degrees). On average we were seeing 12 hours+ of blue skies each day.

The beaches are great and swimming in the sea was very warm and the sea was very clear. Our 7 and 9 year olds loved it and felt very safe (although they are quite good swimmers). We bought two inflatables on site (others bought rowing Dinghy boats) which were handy.

The onsite facilities are great and the supermarket (well stocked and reasonably priced (not as cheap as Supermarket in Pag, but not expensive as some on site shops can be and not worth travelling really for a cheaper supermarket (but see comments* further down too) and the onsite eating locations are varied and reasonably good value. We liked the ones overlooking the beaches/sea. The bakery is well stocked as was the onsite Fruit & Veg shop and both were good value.

We have been to Sandals in Jamaica before and the site near to the beach felt a bit like a cross between a Sandals / Greek islands location but with the usual Eurocamp location style accommodation.

We did not hire bikes / eScooters or Scooters but all were available as were Pedalos / Sailing (Picos/ Cats) / Paddleboarding / Windsurfing / Motor Boats / Jet skiing etc. The motor boats / jet skis are away from the other beaches so no impact.

Zadar, Nin and the National Parks are worth a look too.

Factors to consider;

We did not anticipate having to pay for the Aquaglide park (Inflatables/slides in the sea) as these are prominent in the brochures / promotional material and we assumed this was like the slides that are usually free at sites that have pools. The cost works out at about £20 / person per day, one hour approximately £8 with 1/2 hour and 1/2 day variants. It is great fun, but it would have been nice to know this in advance.

The beach is not really sand / but pebbles of differing sizes and it would be handy to take 'wet / sailing shoes' to make the walk into the sea / on the beaches a bit easier. These are available to buy on site at a cost of £8-10 / pair, but a trip to Decathlon or taking a cheap pair would potentially be a good idea. (We took swiming goggles versus scuba masks which were great too in the clear seas, but there were plenty of people scuba diving too).

*Is potentially worth calling in at the Supermarket in Pag town (or elsewhere) en route to buy basics e.g. Washing Up liquid / cloths / Dishwasher tablets (check your accommodation has one) etc. All are available on site, but are more expensive than in Pag town. We just bought on site, but if we had known, would have bought these on the way.

We did not really see the Eurocamp reps other than to check-in and they never came to see if everything was in order. It was, although we (or our neighbours) never mastered getting the oven to work. C'est la vie - as this was a minor issue for us. Fresh goods / hobs and eating out were all good.

The parc was brilliant, everything on site.
We tried many of the restaurants - all very good.
Beach is not sandy - will need beach/water shoes.
Eurocamp area caravans very close together - we could hear others getting up during the night. A/C unit definitely a bonus. Was a bit of a walk (10 mins) to ‘centre’.

Kids club was running- the staff were brilliant spoke English, German etc. Lots of activities for kids during the day and evening.
Site put on free fruit on Sunday, free hog roast one evening, large cinema screen one night, fireworks!
Reasonable prices in shop and bar area.
We went just before our half term week, I can imagine during peak summer time site would be super busy!
