Soak up the views, or splash out on the river

There are a few reasons why Le Port de Limeuil will capture your holiday heart and it all starts with direct access to the Dordogne river. Watch in high summer as a fantastic river beach appears as the water levels drop down.

If you’d rather sail across the river than paddle, make the most of parc-organised canoe trips or simply enjoy the incredible views of the surrounding countryside. On-parc facilities include a lovely outdoor pool complex, complete with a kids’ spash pool, but mostly, this is a parc that encourages you to stop, unwind and soak in the timeless beauty of this special place. The pizzeria and snack bar offer great spots to stop for food, whilst there are plenty of restaurants located in the village nearby.

Unfortunately the accommodation was "tired" and in need of some maintenance and cleaning. The toilet leaked and the shower heads were blocked as we're the sink mixer taps. There was mould in the showers. This is not what I have come to expect from Euro camp with whom I have holidayed many times over the last 20+ years without complaint.

Le Port Limeuil is a lovely site , small and friendly right on the banks of the Dordogne, it has a small bar and a small restaurant (more a café really) with excellent basic food at very affordable prices, really nice meeting place to relax in the evening.

The accommodation (3 bed classic) was very tatty and tired, the front lower panel from the oven was missing and one of the lights in the living area was detached from its bracket and hanging on the electrical cable, there is more but you get the picture.

It never stopped raining when we were there but, in good sunny weather the site must be absolutely delightful with the proximity to the Dordogne and the lovely town of Limeuil plus the stunning surrounding countryside.

Met by Adam, who was very friendly and knowledgeable on the area. Very nice small site with good walks in the area. We liked the classic van , although a bit dated ther was good storage and was very clean and comfortable. Would return to this site also.

we had booked a caravan for 6 over 60 year olds the van we were allocated had child size bunk beds totally unsuitable for us and although the dining area had a fold out bed this was very uncomfortable to sleep on, the courier was very helpful and allowed 2 of us to sleep in another van for a few days but then we would have had to use a tent. After 3 days we chose to move sites to St Avits which was a better site for us overall.
Moving outside of the site at Limeuil was very difficult as the bridges over the rivers to Limeuil itself were dangerous to cross as we had 2 motability scooters with us.

Le Port de Limeuil is quite likely the most beautifully positioned campsite in France, by the river, with views across to the village. The parc itself is very pleasant, with good facilities, friendly staff, and invariably with good couriers. The wildlife is fun too - birds eager for titbits and if you are lucky you may see one of the resident red squirrels. Our Safari Tent had been put up in a prime location combining views and privacy. This is without doubt our favourite Eurocamp site of all time.

There were a couple of minor niggles with regard to accomodation, firstly the BBQ was in a terrible state, and secondly there was NO TEAPOT. Both issues were quickly resolved by our courier. However we were astonished to learn from her that the reason the teapot was missing was that they are no longer part of the standard equipment.

Come on - if your are providing holidays to an English family what more essential piece of equipment is there than a Teapot?
