This 16th century château is a local landmark and is famous for the quality of its wines. Take a tour of the château with its grand rooms and enormous wine cellars, then enjoy a sample of the excellent wine. Tours of the vineyard are also available in July and August.
The historic old town with its half timbered buildings, lovely flower filled squares and narrow streets is the perfect place for a leisurely afternoon. Do visit the Maison de Vins de Bergerac located in the heart of the old town in a beautiful old cloister, where you can learn all about the history of the Bergerac wines.
Surrounded by vineyards, this wonderful little town is filled with historic monuments including the imposing Kings Tower and hidden underground, a unique monolithic church. But it is the wine that this town is famous for! The vineyard of Saint-Emilion was the first vineyard ever to be listed as a world heritage site and there are plenty of opportunities to visit the local vineyards and enjoy a wine tasting.
Bordeaux is a large city with plenty of attractions - there is plenty to do, whatever the weather. Don't miss the main monuments such as the Pey-Berland Tower and Saint-André cathedral. Take in the Opera House or one of the many museums and galleries, or just enjoy a spot of shopping.
Visit the incredible 'cathedral of crystal'. The caves at Proumeyssac mainly form one huge cavern and contain some amazing stalactites and stalagmites. A musical show illuminates the cavern and formations and visitors can descend to the floor in a 'basket'. Guided visits take about 45 minutes.
