A white sandy beach and trips to Barcelona

Hands up if your family likes beaches? Thought so. Take a look at Argelès-sur-Mer’s impressive stretch of pale, soft sand and you’ll see why Hippocampe is a firm family favourite for beach holiday fans.

Add warm, clear Mediterranean waters, an excellent range of facilities nearby and water sports galore and it all adds up to a great location - just a mile from your parc. In addition to the inviting pool complex, complete with water slides, test your skills with the parc’s range of sports facilities. Or you could take part in the occasional talent contests held during the evenings at La Sirène, Hippocampe’s larger, sister parc across the road. La Sirène’s lively night-time fun can sometimes be heard, together with some road noise.

Hippocampe is across the road from it's parent camp, La Sirene. It was recommended to us as quieter. We visited in September and the site was really empty. Unfortunately our lasting memory will be every evening being ruined by the incredible noise level coming from La Sirene's entertainment. So if you like to go to the show nightly, then fine, if not be prepared to tolerate being part of the show each night until 11 pm to a sound level which does not allow you to play your own music, even within the van. We had a good pitch close to the car park and our Esprit van was fine, although only 10 ft wide which we think means the layout is a bit awkward.

It's a lovely, quiet , small site that enjoys musical entertainment in the evenings on site and across the road at La Sirene, Which host some stunning shows from the Hyppox Theatre group.
Staff are friendly and we've got to know many over the years.
The site has been made a no car site over the past two years. Trees have been cut and pitches re-designed which has made it a bright child friendly site.
The couriers are friendly and do a good job looking after the customers and taking care of the caravans.
This year we had the pleasure to meet Noa and we hope to see him there next year as we've already booked.

West Midlands
We have been to this park quite a few times over the years and this year there have been changes. You are no longer allowed to take your car on site. I understand the reasons why this has been done but if you are a family of 5 as we are, we bring a lot of luggage with us. This means we now have to carry it quite a distance from the car park to the caravan. There are trolleys available but not enough. We intended loading our car at 8am on the day of departure and all the trolleys were already in use. This meant carrying all the luggage by hand. Other changes include the removal of the radio from the van we were in and replaced with a toaster. Personally we would have prfered the radio. We were also aware that many of the actors at Sirene (Syppox Theatre) had left and been replaced so we were a bit dubious as to the standard of the shows. We needn't have worried though as the new actors were absolutely superb. The shows were as good as ever. We went in high season and there seemed to be less shows than we normally see so next year will go back to low season. The Eurocamp staff were excellent. On arrival we were met promptly by Noa who was very polite and patient. During the holiday we only had to contact him once as the canopy above the decking had become detached due to the wind. I reported it to reception and Noa was there within 5 minutes and quickly resolved the issue. Excellent service Noa thank you. You are a credit to Eurocamp. Other changes at the site are the re positioning of all of the vans (now much closer together) due to the no cars rule. There are still reasonably spaced apart and when the bamboo hedges grow the privacy will be as good as it used to be. The only one problem is the caravan that we were allocated was right at the back of the park very close to a road on the other side of the fence. This road is used by the staff to get to their caravans and tents. Unfortunately very few of them respect the speed limit so it wasn't unusual to get cars driving down that road very quickly in the middle of the night. The road is less than 2 meters away from the bedroom windows so I think this should be addressed by the site management. Generally we were still happy with the site and will be returning next year. In fact we have already booked.

Great for the kids. It's like a kids paradise.

There's also things for the adults to do and some amazing places to visit e.g. Collioure.

Area is expensive for food and other provisions mind you. The quality of restaurant food in Argeles-sur-Mer is poor and pretty expensive, though pretty good in Collioure.

The food in the restaurant in the sister park across from the Hippocamp (not the pool restaurant) was absolutely terrible and service rude.

Waltham Abbey
The parc is great and the facilities are very good. Accomodation was good though being charged for towels and bedding seemed a bit ! given the accomodation was pretty pricey.
