Days Out

Nimes amphitheatre

Temple of Maison Carée

Feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end when you visit the amphitheatre and imagine the gladiators or visit the temple of Maison Carée in Nîmes. This city has a rich history dating back to the time of Julius Ceasar, and this, along with the modern architecture and cultural diversity make it a favorite stop.

Montpellier Parc Zoologique

Montpellier Parc Zoologique

Look at the llamas, mooch around the monkeys and peer at the parrots: go wild at Montpellier Parc Zoologique and take a look at nearly 160 different species of animals from all around the world.

La Rochelle Aquarium

Sequarium Le Grau Roi

See seal shows and sharks, touch the rays, learn all about the sea turtle in the museum, and see loads of tropical fish. The aquarium in Montpellier is also excellent; it's one of the biggest aquaria in France and has lots of interactive activities to entertain and educate the whole family.

Off Parc Activities

The area around the park is ideal for cycling and you can hire bikes on the campsite. But another lovely way to see the area is on a horse ride and you will find stables only 1 km from the parc.

For walking ‘Centre de Decouverte de Scamandre’ is perfect. It is 215 hectare nature park which allows visitors to discover the Camargue area. There are also lots of discovery paths around Sommieres.

A great activity for the family is the treasure hunt on the Vidourle River. You take a canoe and pick up your waterproof map from the tourist information office, then set off on an 8 km descent along the river between the Sommiers and La Roque de St Séries to find the treasure. The river Vidourle is home to a variety of fish so if you get a licence from the tourism office you may be able to catch your dinner.
