For shopping, visit Lamotte-Beuvron just 10 miles from the parc and for markets, visit Romorantin-Lanthenay, not too far from Pierrefitte. There are also, of course, the many châteaux of the Loire waiting to be discovered. The closest to the parc is just south of Orléans, Château de la Ferté St-Aubin. Elsewhere, 31km from the parc in the town of Nancay, is a woodland adventure park with over 60 treetop games.

Zoo Parc Beauval

Zoo Park Beauval

The Zoo Park Beauval is a marvellous day out, full of fun- you are sure to be laughing and clapping along with the with bird of prey and sea lion shows. It is nearly 100 km away but it is said to be one of the best zoos in Europe and boasts the amazing white tiger enclosure. Closer to the parc is the ‘Radio & Astronomy Centre’ where you learn all about the history and scientific aspects of astronomy and watch the impressive planetarium display.

Tree top adventure

Adventure Park Nançay

Adventure Park Nançay is a fantastic adventure in the trees, suitable for all ages and levels, although you will need lots of energy for climbing up rope ladders and swinging from tree to tree. The courses are arranged into 4 zones of varying difficulty.


Loire Châteaux

This parc is surrounded by the charming châteaux of the Loire Valley. The closest to the parc, just south of Orleans, is Château de la Ferté St-Aubin. The largest is Château de Chambord, a truly magnificent sight, supposedly designed in part by Leonardo Da Vinci.


Parc Floral de la Source

Parc Floral de la Source in Orleans is a treat for the senses. The site has vast expanses of flower beds as well as a butterfly house, emus, flamingos and deer, and for children there is a playground, minigolf and a small train.



Orleans is crammed full of sightseeing spots, such as the city’s medieval university, Sainte Croix Cathedral, Musée des Beux-Arts and many more. And if you want to relax after a busy morning of sightseeing then take a picnic to Parc Pasteur or visit one of the town’s many excellent restaurants. If you visit on a Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday morning you must explore the local market.

Off Parc Activities

The parc is surrounded by forest paths that are ideal for walking or cycling and it also has a lake beach on the parc for canoeing, pedalos and even wakeboarding, so there is hardly a need to leave the site. Not too far away you can find horse riding facilities and karting.
