Events in the Region
The weekend of Qatar Prix de l’Arc de triomphe consists of some twenty horse races each more thrilling than the last at more than 50 km/h. The event is broadcast over more than 30 countries and is viewed by more than a billion viewers watching the races on one of the best courses in the world, costing nearly 5 million Euros. This race will take place at the all new Paris Longchamp racecourse in 2018.
The French Open, one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, is one of the biggest sporting events in France. For two weeks the 500 top tennis players in the world battle it out on the clay courts of the famous Roland Garros Stadium.
If you are a lover of all things equine then Chantilly is the place to go (50 Km north of Paris). The Hippodrome de Chantilly hosts two of France’s classic horse races - the Prix du Jockey Club and the Prix de Diane Longines every year in June. But if you don’t fancy a flutter then you can always visit the local horse museum, ‘La Musée Vivant du Cheval’, which offers demonstrations three times per day.
Presenting a wealth of free concerts throughout summer, the Paris Jazz Festival is an annual event held in the gorgeous setting of the Parc Floral. Featuring a variety of jazz acts, new and old, this is a must for all Jazz-lovers and music-lovers in general. Concerts take place every Saturday and Sunday afternoon from the end of June to late July. 2019 dates to be confirmed.
With gruelling routes covering some of France's most beautifully scenic regions, the Tour de France is an iconic cycle race, attracting huge crowds along the route. The Grand Départ of 2019 takes place on the 6th July in the city of Brussels. The exciting mountains stages in the French Alps and the Pyrenees are especially popular.The races finishes in Paris on the 28th July.
