Sightseeing

Take the short drive from the parc into Fréjus, a town founded by Julius Caesar, where you can visit the busy port with its various cafés and restaurants, browse around the shops and sample the bars, and take in the Roman architecture in the old town. Here in Fréjus you will also find a popular zoo and Aqualand water park. Slightly further away is the historical yet modern resort of St Raphaël and further still - but well worth the visit - are glamorous St Tropez and Cannes.

The number one sea world in Europe is close by in Antibes. Marineland will amaze and entertain all visitors, no matter what age. The animal shows are particularly good – you must see the killer whales, sea lions and dolphins trying to impress you. Looking up into shark infested waters through the clear tunnel is also an awesome experience.

Also very close by is Fréjus’ water park, Aqualand. It is said to be the largest water park on the Côte d’Azur and it has attractions to suit a variety of ages, including several waterslides, river rapids, wave pools and mini parks for young children.

Parc Zoologique

One of the nearest attractions to the campsite is Parc Zoologique de Fréjus which is a fun and educational adventure through 16 hectares of Mediterranean park land, around the habitats of some incredible and endangered species.

Roquebrune

Roquebrune is a lovely place to explore. Start your adventure under the archway at the base of the 16th century watchtower and meander down the narrow streets past the old buildings and church.

Bravade à Fréjus

Every year, on the third weekend after Easter, the town of Fréjus, celebrates the feast day of Saint Francis de Paul. This historic festival, ‘La Bravade’, includes colourful parades with locals dressed in traditional costumes accompanied by the sounds of flutes and drums. There are musical performances, as well as services in the cathedral and of course a big feast.

Fréjus’ most well-know festival is the ‘Nuits Auréliennes’ - enjoy atmospheric evenings in the Roman amphitheatre, where live dramatic performances take place over two weeks in July. In 2018 performances will take place on the 17th, 19th, 24th, 26th & 31st July.

If you’re a cycling fanatic, then make sure you head down to Frejus to see their local cycling event of the year – Roc d’Azur. Over the event period you’ll get to watch races of all distances, from 2km through to the 83km Marathon! You also get to see top mountain bike and road bike brands, providing a unique opportunity to discover the latest models and prototypes, fresh on the market.

Off Parc Activities

Windsurfing and sailing are popular activities in the area, especially at the sandy coves along the coast from Fréjus to Sainte Maxime. 20 miles from the parc at Lac de Cassien you can hire windsurfing boards and pedalos.

For hiking and biking you won’t find better views than along the excellent trails at Le Massif de l’esterel, a coastal mountain range rich in red volcanic rock.
