Sightseeing

Take the short drive from the parc into Fréjus, a town founded by Julius Caesar, where you can visit the busy port with its various cafés and restaurants, browse around the shops and sample the bars, and take in the Roman architecture in the old town. Here in Fréjus you will also find a popular zoo and Aqualand water park. Slightly further away is the historical yet modern resort of St Raphaël and further still - but well worth the visit - are glamorous St Tropez and Cannes.

Aqualand

Fréjus Aqualand is said to be the largest water park on the Côte d’Azur and it has attractions for all the family. There's a surf beach, children's paradise and brilliant waterslides, like the Black Hole, Niagra, Vertigo and Twister!

Parc Zoologique

One of the nearest attractions to the campsite is Parc Zoologique de Fréjus which is a fun and educational adventure through 16 hectares of Mediterranean park land, around the habitats of some incredible and endangered species.

Roquebrune is a lovely place to explore. Start your adventure under the archway at the base of the 16th century watchtower and meander down the narrow streets past the old buildings and church.

Over the event period you’ll get to watch races of all distances, from 2km through to the 83km Marathon! You also get to see top mountain bike and road bike brands, providing a unique opportunity to discover the latest models and prototypes, fresh on the market.

Every year, on the third weekend after Easter, the town of Fréjus, celebrates the feast day of Saint Francis de Paul. This historic festival, ‘La Bravade’, includes colourful parades with locals dressed in traditional costumes accompanied by the sounds of flutes and drums. There are musical performances, as well as services in the cathedral and of course a big feast. 2020 dates to be confirmed.

Antibes regatta, Les Voiles d'Antibes

If it's sailing that floats your boat then head to Antibes in early June! The town plays host to the grand opening of the Mediterranean Classic Yachts Regatta season - Les Voiles d'Antibes. Come along and see a selection of some the most beautiful vintage yachts (built before 1950), classic yachts (built before 1976) as well as metric classes (6 MJI, 8MJI and the 12 MJI competitors of the America's Cup from 1958 to 1987).

Tour de France

Tour de France

With grueling routes covering some of France's most beautifully scenic regions, the Tour de France is an iconic cycle race, attracting huge crowds along the route. The Grand Départ of 2020 takes place on the 27th June in the city of Nice, with the 170km route on day 1 finishing with a sprint along the Promendade des Anglais. Day 2 again starts and ends in Nice with a trip into the mountains along the way. The races finishes in Paris in July.

Fréjus has a whole host of events and festivals throughout the year. One of the main events not to be missed is the ‘Fête du Raisin’ in early August – there are traditional dances on the steps of the cathedral, wine tastings and market stalls. 2020 dates to be confirmed.

Off Parc Activities

Windsurfing and sailing are popular activities in the area, especially at the sandy coves along the coast from Fréjus to Sainte Maxime. 20 miles from the parc at Lac de Cassien you can hire windsurfing boards and pedalos.

For hiking and biking you won’t find better views than along the excellent trails at Le Massif de l’esterel, a coastal mountain range rich in red volcanic rock.
