Port Grimaud

Just 30km away is the medieval hilltop village of Grimaud, providing wonderful panoramic views over the region. Explore the village, then drop down to the coast to walk around colourful Port Grimaud; known as the 'Venice of Provence' the brightly painted houses alongside the many canals give it lots of charm.

In the hills, to the north of Nice, sits the famous perfume town of Grasse. It's been associated with perfume since the 16th century and there are still around 30 makers here today. Take a tour of a perfume factory and indulge in a little shopping!

Further afield (it's a full day out) is the spectacular 'Grand Canyon' of Europe. Situated in central Provence turquoise blue waters flow through high limestone cliffs.  You can drive around the top (it's about 130km long), or explore by kayak. One of the most popular viewpoints is at Point Sublime near Rougon, and the view from the bridge at the west of the gorges (Pont de Galetas) is also very lovely.
