Annecy is sandwiched between the Aravis Mountains and the Bauges National Park, on the edge of the beautiful Lake Annecy, which is fed from three glaciers via the rivers of melting snow that pour into the lake every spring. Visiting in May is a must, because from May to early June, the meadows are rich with wild flowers, with no less than 300 species to be found.
This picturesque area offers you nature in all its glory, with cascades, rivers, mountains, forests, traditional villages and châteaux all waiting to be discovered. Bird lovers also have lots to look out for from May to September, as there are hunting Peregrine and even Golden Eagles to spot. Annecy really is a fantastic base for all walkers and nature-lovers.
