The combination of peaceful countryside, lakeside paths and mountain ascents make Annecy the perfect cycling destination – that’s why it was chosen for the mountain finale of the 100th Tour de France. Annecy itself is very cycle-friendly, with the Lake Annecy greenway considered the most beautiful cycleway in France. All the greenways, countryside routes and cycle routes combined amount to nearly 110 available routes for cycling fanatics!
If you prefer to travel light, there are cycle hire companies nearby. ‘Cycles Annick Toinet’ have been based in Sevrier since 1990 and are approximately 10km from the parc towards Annecy. Their website is in French, but you can contact them in English. They speak English and can deliver bikes to the parc. For more information please see https://cyclesannicktoinet.jimdo.com/
Free cycling routes, supplied by each regions' local tourist office, can be found at the Eurocamp reception on parc. These are great for planning your road cycling adventure, so don’t forget to drop in and pick one up when you arrive.
Bike rental is supplied via a third party and we have no control over their operation, meaning that this might be different from advertised. All rentals are subject to the supplier’s terms and conditions, and payment is made direct to the supplier.
Local Area Climbing
There is a multitude of climbing opportunities around Annecy. These limestone mountains offer a wide choice of crags and a spectacular range of routes, all of which are easily accessible from our parcs in the area. Chamonix and Mont Blanc are both just 45 miles from Annecy, offering the most concentrated mountaineering area in the world and a major sports climbing venue. North of Annecy, for serious thrill seekers, is the huge via Ferrata in Thrones, renowned as the most difficult in this climbing region. The awe-inspiring Gorges du Fier is definitely worth a visit, where you walk through a narrow canyon on a footbridge attached to the rock face, as the river rushes directly beneath you.
Just some of climbing areas you can enjoy...
