Watersports or walking, the choice is yours

Annecy is made for getting out and living life to the full - so what’s it to be? Canoeing, kayaking, fishing, water skiing, windsurfing? They’re all easily doable (well, maybe not so easy…) from La Ravoire parc.

As bases for discovery go, you couldn’t get more central. From here, the French Alpine countryside opens out in a succession of mountains, lakes, rivers and towns, each more inviting than the last. On parc, the water complex features two pools to keep you happy - and a water slide for extra excitement! There’s a snack bar and takeaway for easy dining too. Lake Annecy is easily accessible, less than a kilometre away, and along its shores you’ll find plenty of water sports to try. Dive in!

Nice reception from courier. First thing I noticed on entering mobile home is that there is no mattress cover on the beds - we had sleeping bags but the family (German) that came in overnight next door brought very little baggage with them ?? that was also annoying in that overnight stops are put next to long stay so car door banging early in morning wakes you. Could not sit up in bed in the morning to read book as the bedroom window looks straight onto the veranda of our neighbour - no point drawing curtains as the bedside lights were too difficult to see by. The place was well equipped and was clean although badly designed - would we do it again personally ? - no - probably more suited to people with kids.

We enjoyed our stay at La Ravoire - the owners of the actual site were extremely friendly and helpful. We were lucky to have beautiful weather. The area is really aimed at activity holidays, if you are going like us just to see attractions and towns in the area, then you only need 3 - 4 days at most unless you are willing to travel quite a distance to Aix Les Bains, Chambery, Mont Blanc, or Lac Leman. Annecy old part was very quaint but seemed to be aimed at eating out - loads of restaurants and a couple of lovely parks, but otherwise not that touristy in terms of types of shops. We enjoyed a boat trip on the lake, the secret garden outside Annecy was brilliant. We also enjoyed the Gorge walk and nearby Chateau. Unfortunately the Chateau on Eastern side of Lake Annecy wasn't open when we were there. The lake area itself is very pretty and we enjoyed a ride in the car up to the Col du Forclaz. It did feel as though after August (we were there first week in September) that things were seriously winding down. We did find the site a little claustrophobic compared to some others we have stayed at, with hedges close around caravans for privacy and large trees for shade in the summer .

Lovely site in a fabulous location. Pool area and bar very clean and tidy and never overly busy. Small park and very quiet. Shop hasn't got a lot of choice and isn't open for long however plenty of shops near by. Would return in the future.
