- Le Pianacce is a lovely parc with all the facilities you could want: a mini market where you can buy essentials, an on-site restaurant which also offers a takeaway service and 3 separate pools. It sis in a lovely, typically Tuscan location with beautiful views of the Medieval town of Castegneto Craducci and the surrounding Tuscan countryside. However, having a car is essential, something which Eurocamp repeatedly told us was not the case. This significantly impacted on the quality of our holiday as we were effectively trapped on site unless we were willing to pay the 50 Euro taxi fee to get to and from the town.
This was our first experience of Eurocamp and we won't be using them again. I spoke to Eurocamp on 3 separate occasions to check how easy it would be to get around without a car and on all 3 occasions I was told it was very easy. They said that the campsite ran free shuttle buses to the beach, the town and the train station. However, when we got there we we told that only visitors who had booked directly with Le Pianacce were permitted to use the shuttles to teh town and train station but we could use the one to the beach. Eurocamp also told me on all 3 occasions that 'there will be loads of taxis'. In fact there was just 1 taxi driver who charged 25 Euros for a 4 mile journey. As we already had train tickets booked for a visit to Florence we had to pay the 50 Euro fee to get to and from the train station.
The rep on site was very hard to get hold of. He and his manager did visit our mobile home after we reported a number of issues including the light-switch for the bathroom not working, the blind in the bathroom not working, the light over the mirror in the master bedroom not working. In addition the ceiling of our accommodation had suffered from rust which had been badly patched. The rep and his manger 'fixed' the blind in the bathroom by replacing it with another one which had a 6inch gap at the bottom. The other issues were bot fixed during our 10 day stay at the site.
In conclusion, we would be happy to visit Le Pianacce again as it is a lovely site but we would not do so via Eurocamp who turned out to be be a very expensive booking agency who provided inaccurate and misleading information which meant we did not have the holiday we planned. We would also hire a car as it is impossible to get around without one unless you have very deep pockets!
