The ideal place to discover Pompeii

Holiday at Baia Domizia, just north of the Bay of Naples, for your chance to relax within a pine forest with views of the nearby mountains.

This is our most southern park in mainland Italy, so the area benefits from a fabulous climate. It’s a great spot for families and you’ll find pitches with lots of shade from the midday sun, alongside a large supermarket, shops and restaurant all at the parc’s centre. There’s also a great pool complex, with one especially for the kids, but if you’re looking to splash about in natural waters, why not make the most of the parc’s direct access to Baia Domizia beach? Here, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to try your hand at a new water sport, too. And if you’ve got any energy left, there is a discothèque nearby, which may be heard from the parc until the early hours.

We just arrived back from Baia Domizia in Italy. We arrived at the camp approx 3pm on 26 August having stayed in Rome for 3 nights and drove past the campsite several times trying to find Eurocamp but there was no Eurocamp signage anywhere. In the end we got out to ask the Camping staff at Camping Village as the only signage was for Camping village which turned out to be also the Eurocamp approx 6 caravans. We were escorted to our camp by a eurocamp representative Phil who was very welcoming. The caravan was very well equipped with lots of add ons like a barbecue, washing line, deck and a sunshade. The air con in the van clicks off every 2 hours which is annoying in the night to put on again but then the disco kept us awake so... Although the park is more rustic than the pictures portray and random run down caravans let it down.

We made dinner and then hit the sack... then the disco started at 1pm and continued boom boom boom until 6am. Apparently the disco is across the road and nothing to do with the campsite. Suffice it to say we got little sleep. The disco each night continued until the early hours and if you are a light sleeper then say goodbye to a restful night. On 2 Sep at 5am came bang bang in the night we thought terrorists were on camp, the gunshots continued from 5am until 10am apparently it is hunting season! Not impressed with with that and again not a restful night.

A loud tannoy announcement at 10am announces the days programme. Good morning campers!!! The facilities at the park were okay, great pool area, also strict on pool hats and throwing out time which was 6pm but they get people out of the pool at 545pm. Strictly no eating or drinking outside the cafe deck! Lifeguards a little whistle happy if sOmeone removed their hat for a second in the pool.! The mini club or kids club, one of the reasons I picked this park, was basic. 10-12 and 4-6 in the park just colouring and playing cards.

I did expect more kids activities and entertainment. I feel a little miss sold on that as I picked the park for my 5 year old. Mini disco for the kids started at 10pm...and finish at 1-3am, for a 5 year old and their parents this is far too late even on holiday! Maybe this is Italy style.

Well equipped shops for eats and fresh fruit and veg. Also a bar and restaurant. We sat down outside the ice cream parlour after purchasing an ice cream only minutes later to be told we could not eat or drink anything other than the ice-cream. We had minutes earlier bought a can of drink for our 5 year old at the bar next door and we sat it on the table. The lady was very rude and abrupt for no good reason. The staff service at the shop was inconsistent, from slamming your change down on counter dismissively even though your hand was out waiting or being overly polite and then asking for vouchers from your milk bottle!

Come prepared.. you will need deet in abundance. The mosquitoes are hungry and aggressive here and we are all averaging around 4 new bites a day with repellent! The temperature in August is hot hot reaching 38 degrees one day.

The location of the camp is a good base for trips outside the camp, an hour north of Pompeii and 1.45hrs south of Rome. Although the area directly outside the camp is barren and run down but not dissimilar to other similar places. We took a drive down to Salerno to visit the war cemetery around 2 hrs. We have been to more salubrious towns and expected a quaint fishing port but the cemetery was immaculate and we paid our respects to the commonwealth war graves. We also visited Monte Cassino high in the hills around an hour drive mostly up hill which was well worth the visit, the home of Saint Benedict. Lunch was a bit pot luck though as most restaurants are closed for siesta until 6pm so we took what we could hence McDonald's on occasion.

We took a visit to Herculaneum and a climb up Vesuvius which is a must if staying in this region.

The eurocamp rep Phil was faultless, very friendly and informative, a really nice bloke and even lent his metal detector to our son for the day.

At camp we cooked ourselves making use of the barbecue. The Italian food we ate out at to start was mainly plain and tasteless. We expected food oozing with garlic and spices and were not disappointed at a road side restaurant at the foot of Herculanum.

Whilst we enjoyed our holiday, which was a mixture of pool, archeology and history I would not come to this camp again as the constant nightly disco noise and late night entertainment noise was draining. My son enjoyed himself but grew bored with little kids activities to do, even the pool darts was only one go but proud to say my husband beat the whole pool when he played. The camp is on siesta from 1-4pm so quiet round the pool. I guess they needed to recover to go through until 3-4am again boom 💥 boom

The Europarc had great facilities. However, the very loud disco that went on into the early hours every night is a big let down!!! This would put me off recommending it to other families with small children.

The caravans are also dated and need updating.

Nice site, well situated for the beach and amongst the trees, campsite shop was reasonably priced and of good quality. There's also a really nice fruit and veg shop which opens mainly mornings only. The campsite bars were average although again seemed fairly priced, the gelato shop though was great, some of the best ice cream we had in Italy.

We had a wonderful holiday, the location was good, the swimming complex and beach was good. However, disappointed with the noise level every night going on into the early hours of the morning (2am - 4am) from the local disco.
Our last evening, we spent in the campsite /parc's restaurant unfortunately the food was poor the service was even worse and we received our meals at different times...very disappointing and not worth the money.

On a plus side, the Eurocamp courier, Phil, was fabulous he was there on our arrival, very welcoming. Throughout our time at Baia Domizia nothing was to much trouble and he was around if we need any information etc...
