Novalja is the scene of music festivals throughout the summer. The action kicks off with the Big Beach Spring Break in late May, followed by the Hideout Festival at the end of June, the Fresh Island Festival in mid July, followed by Loveweek. In August it’s one event after another with the Black Sheep Festival, Barrakud Festival, Steroforest and finally the Sonus Festival.
A celebration of the way of life for the residents of Rovinj many years ago. Fishermen would sail out on their batana (boat) first thing in the morning, then return in the evening with their catch to feed their families. The festival takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout August and includes a boat parade, live entertainment and evening dinner at the Spacio Matika.
Competitors take to the sea to find out who can swim 'as swift as a dolphin' - who is the best sea swimmer regardless of temperature, current and waves over distances of either 1500m, 3000m and 5000m. Other events include swimming sprint races, water polo tournaments, sailing regatta and the Croatian Jet-ski Championship.
The historical festival in Porec is a colourful three day event, with over 250 costumed participants. Go back in time to 1745 and see the popular fiesta 'Fiera Franca Fruidana' in the streets. There's also crossbow shooting, dances, baroque music, drummers and theatrical performances as well as the Giostra horse race or knights tournament.
Take part in a recreational bike ride for all the family. The route is between 20 and 25km long and anyone can take part.
