Camping Holidays in the Pyrénées
Luz St Sauveur has a busy events calendar during the summer months and also during the winter skiing season. There are sporting events, festivals, concerts and much more. On 21st June the town joins in with other towns across the world to celebrate music, with live performances filling the streets.
With gruelling routes covering some of France's most beautifully scenic regions, the Tour de France is an iconic cycle race, attracting huge crowds along the route. The Grand Départ of 2018 takes place on the 7th July starting on the Island of Noirmoutier. The early stages of the race go through the Vendée and Brittany regions. As usual there are exciting mountains stages in the French Alps and the Pyrenees.The races finishes in Paris on the 29th July.
At the start of August the ‘Fête du mouton’ or La Luz Sheep Day, celebrates the gastronomic star of the valley - Barèges-Gavarnie sheep! Visit the local and regional producers markets, dog shows and shearing demonstrations, and enjoy some food tasting. 2018 dates to be confirmed.
‘Fête local de Betpouey’ is an extravaganza of dancing, fireworks and local cuisine. The Sunday morning mass is followed by an aperitif, then at around 7pm the evening celebrations begin. 2018 dates to be confirmed.
